MINUTES
September 19, 2017
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 9:00
a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Norm Childress, Cindy
Murray, Ron Shriner and Dawn Ross.
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the September 12, 2017 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross
seconded. Passed.
BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT
Structure Demolition-615 Wabash Avenue and 1327 Columbia Street
President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement.
NEW BUSINESS
Engineering
Utility Service Agreement-Crossroads Galvanizing
Bob Foley, Engineering, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Utility Service
Agreement for Crossroads Galvanizing located at the southwest corner of Old 350 S. and 500 E. Mr.
Foley stated that this is a new facility and a Tier 1 supplier for Wabash National. They have wired funds
in the amount of $140,018.00. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
Lafayette Housing Authority
Amendment #1-2016 CDBG Agreement between City of Lafayette and Food Finders Food Bank-Food
Resource and Education Center Improvements
Patrick Ringwald, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Amendment #1
for the 2016 CDBG Agreement between City of Lafayette and Food Finders Food Bank-Food Resource
and Education Center Improvements. This amendment extends the contract to October 31, 2017. Mrs.
Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.

Agreement for Grant Administration between City of Lafayette and Lafayette Housing Authority-Grant
Administration
Michelle Reynolds, Housing Authority Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an
Agreement for Grant Administration between City of Lafayette and Housing Authority-Grant
Administration. This agreement will continue the grant administration activities performed by the
Housing Authority for the City’s CDBG and HOME program funding received from HUD. Mr. Childress
moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Faith Community Development Corporation 2016
Project #1-Roosevelt
Valerie Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement
between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Faith Community Development Corporation 2016 Project
#1-Roosevelt. This agreement provides up to $80,000.00 for acquisition and renovation of 2104
Roosevelt from Faith CDC’s HOME award. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded.
Passed.
Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Habitat for Humanity: 2016 Project #2-Melody
Lane
Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between Lafayette
Housing Consortium and Habitat for Humanity: 2016 Project #2 Melody Lane. This agreement provides
up to $35,000.00 for the acquisition and construction of 807 Melody Lane from Habitat’s 2016 HOME
award. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $3,379,831.03. President
Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for approval.
Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request-Purdue Half Marathon
Don Carr, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event
Request for the Purdue Half Marathon to be held on October 14, 2017 from 8:00am-10:30am. Mr. Carr
stated that a portion of the race will go through downtown Lafayette. Mr. Shriner moved for approval.
Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
Special Event Request-Walk a Mile in Her Shoes (YWCA)
Tia Rucker, YWCA Outreach Coordinator, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a
Special Event Request for the YWCA Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to be held on October 1, 2017 from
2:00pm-5:30pm at Riehle Plaza and the John T. Myers Bridge. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs.
Murray seconded. Passed.

Special Event Request-Trunk or Treat (Hartford Hub)
Lori Walter, Hartford Hub Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a
Special Event Request for the Trunk or Treat (Hartford Hub) to be held on October 31, 2017 from
4:00pm-9:00pm at the Hartford Hub. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
