BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES December 5, 2017 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress, Dawn Ross and Ron Shriner. Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Ross moved for approval of the minutes from the November 28, 2017 regular meeting. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Change Order #1-Structure Demolition for 615 Wabash Avenue and 1327 Columbia Street Jeromy Grenard, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Change Order #1 for the Structure Demolition for 615 Wabash Avenue and 1327 Columbia Street. Mr. Grenard stated the reason for the change is that the property at 615 Wabash was not known to have a basement. There was no interior access from the house and all exterior evidence was obscured from view and was not in the County records. The change order is in the amount of $4,500.00 which brings the revised contract to $32,020.00. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Certificate of Completion-24th, 25th and Knight Street Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project (Re-Bid) Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Certificate of Completion for 24th, 25th and Knight Street Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project (Re-Bid). Mr. Grenard stated that the final walkthrough inspection has been completed and all punch list items have been addressed to the Engineer’s satisfaction. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Legal Counsel Resolution 06-2017 Resolution Accepting the Assignment of Certain Tax Sale Certificates from Tippecanoe County Jacque Chosnek presented to the Board and recommended approval of Resolution 06-2017 Resolution Accepting the Assignment of Certain Tax Sale Certificates from Tippecanoe County. This includes three (3) properties that did not sell at the property tax sale earlier this year. The assignment is for properties at 1303 N. 17th Street, 305 S. 28th Street and 2521 Poland Hill Road. Mrs. Chosnek stated that Board of Public Works and Safety December 5, 2017 Page 2 all three (3) properties were on the Unsafe Structure List along with the Abandoned Property List. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $4,620,049.31. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Pearl Harbor Day President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval a Special Event Request for Pearl Harbor Day to be held on December 7, 2017 from 10:00am-1:00pm at Riehle Plaza, the Big 4 Depot and the John T. Meyers Bridge. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
