BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES September 11, 2018 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Cindy Murray, Norm Childress and Ron Shriner. Absent: Gary Henriott and Amy Moulton Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. Mrs. Murray called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Shriner moved for approval of the minutes from the September 4, 2018 regular meeting. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Police Department Declaration of Surplus Property-Police Deputy Chief, Brad Bishop, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus Property for the Police Department that includes 27 shotguns and 7 pistols with a variety of manufacturers. The items have been replaced with new equipment and there are no longer needed. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Tim Clary, Deputy Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $588,182.10. Mrs. Murray asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Halloweentown/Operation Trick or Treat Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Halloweentown/Operation Trick or Treat to be held on October 27, 2018 from 8:00am-6:00pm, on Riehle Plaza and the Big 4 Depot Community Room. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety September 11, 2018 Page 2 Removal/Cancel Special Event Request Mrs. Murray stated that the Special Event Request for the Lafayette Theater scheduled for October 6, 2018 has been cancelled by the organizers. Therefore there is a need to cancel the event permit. Mr. Shriner moved to cancel the event permit. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. ANNOUNCEMENTS Brad Talley, Lafayette Renew Superintendent, announced to the Board that the City of Lafayette received an award for the Outstanding Stormwater Project by the Indiana Association for Floodplain and Stormwater management (INASFM) for the work done on Brown Street sewer project in downtown Lafayette. Mr. Talley thanked the Board and Mayor Roswarski for a great project and excited to receive the award. Mayor Roswarski thanked the Board, Lafayette Renew, Bowen Engineering, Greely & Hansen and D2 Land and Water Resource for a great partnership on the project. Mayor Roswarski is pleased that the City of Lafayette received this award.
