BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
MINUTES
February 19, 2019
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.
in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm
Childress and Amy Moulton. Absent: Ron Shriner
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the February 12, 2019 regular meeting. Mr.
Childress seconded. Passed.
BID OPENING
Haggerty Lane Resurfacing and Widening
This being the time set to open bids for the Haggerty Lane Resurfacing and Widening, and the following
bids were received and opened:
Milestone Contractors, Inc
Lafayette, Indiana
Base Bid: $1,997,700.00
Alternate #1: $22,500.00 (increase)
Alternate #2: $160,000.00 (increase)
Alternate #3: $23,500.00 (increase)
Unit Pricing Total: $60,225.00
Rieth-Riley Construction, Co.
Lafayette, Indiana
Base Bid: $2,306,621.00
Alternate #1: $49,809.00 (increase)
Alternate #2: $222,879.00 (increase)
Alternate #3: $37,998.00 (increase)
Unit Pricing Total: $65,478.00
Mrs. Murray moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT
Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Bisulfite, Phosphorus Chemicals and Hydrochloric Acid
President Henriott stated that this will remain under advisement.

NEW BUSINESS
Lafayette Renew
Significant Industrial User Permit-Rea Magnet Wire
Brian Beeler, Renew, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Significant Industrial User
Permit for Rea Magnet Wire that is permitted as a Signiant Industrial User. This is a 4 year renewal for
the pretreatment program. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Significant Industrial User Permit-Industrial Plating
Mr. Beeler presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Significant Industrial User Permit for
Industrial Plating that is permitted as a Signiant Industrial User. This is a 4 year renewal for the
pretreatment program. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Paula King, Controller’s Office, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $6,711,358.34.
President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for
approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.
DEPARTMENTAL UPDATE
Fleet Maintenance
Tim Bullis, Fleet Maintenance Director, gave a brief update on the City of Lafayette Fuel Station, repairs
on City owned vehicles & equipment, insurance, purchase of vehicles & equipment, BMV items,
coordinating training for Fleet employees and the changing technologies standards of the industry.
