BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES September 17, 2019 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress and Ron Shriner. Absent: Amy Moulton Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the September 10, 2019 regular meeting. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Parks Department Contract with Fisher Engineering for McCaw Park Walkway Design and Park Survey Claudine Laufman, Parks Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract with Fisher Engineering for McCaw Park Walkway Design and Park Survey in the amount of $7,900.00. The work will begin on September 17, 2019 with an anticipated completion date of October 15, 2019. The contract includes performing an existing conditions survey of the west side of the park along with a development of construction documents for a new hardscape pathway between the ballfields and pickle ball courts. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Contract with Alt & Witzig Engineering for Loeb Stadium Mrs. Laufman presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract with Alt & Witzig Engineering for Loeb Stadium in the amount of $98,996.25. The work will begin on September 17. 2019 with an anticipated completion date of December 2020. The contract includes performing various quality control inspections & test during the construction process. The scope includes, but not limited to, concrete foundations, concrete slabs, backfill compaction, floor flatness, structural steel inspections, masonry, hardscape concrete, and asphalt testing. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Tim Clary, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $3,854,918.21. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety September 17, 2019 Page 2 MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Alpha Chi Yoga President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Alpha Chi Yoga to be held on September 21, 2019 from 10:00am-11:00am on the John T. Myers Bridge. Mrs. Murray moved for approval subject to updated insurance being submitted. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Special Presentation- Clint Moore (Water Works) Mayor Roswarski presented Clint Moore, Water Works Department, with a Certificate of Appreciation for his unselfish act of pulling a citizen out of a burning car after she was in an accident that Mr. Moore witnessed while working. Mr. Moore proceeded to help the citizen to his work truck and then extinguished the fire in the car. Mayor Roswarski thanked Mr. Moore for his help and stated that he was proud of him. Mr. Moore thanked the Mayor and was glad to help. ANNOUNCEMENTS Kerry Smith, Water Works Superintendent, announced to the Board and invited them to the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Murdock Park Reservoir and Booster Station on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 3:30pm at the intersection of Cason Street and N. 22nd Street in Murdock Park.
