BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
MINUTES
April 7, 2020
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray and Ron Shriner.
Absent: Amy Moulton and Norm Childress
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the March 31, 2020 regular meeting. Mr. Shriner seconded.
Passed.
BID OPENING
Public Works Campus, Phase 1 (Moved to 4/14/2020 via Addendum #1)
President Henriott stated that this bid opening will be held on April 14, 2020 at 9:00am.
OLD BUSINESS
Special Event Request-Tunnel to Towers Lafayette 5K (Tabled 3/17/20)
Mr. Shriner moved to remove this item from the table. Mrs. Murray seconded. Removed. President Henriott
presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Tunnel to Towers Lafayette 5K
to be held on October 3, 2020 from 8:00am-10:00am located near Jefferson High School and Durgan Elementary
School and the surrounding neighborhood. President Henriott stated that they have all of the information and
questions were answered. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Lafayette Renew
Recommendation for Award- S. 30th Street Drainage Improvements Project
Mayor Roswarski presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Recommendation for Award of S. 30th
Street Drainage Improvements Project with Atlas Excavating. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray
seconded. Passed.
Contract- S. 30th Street Drainage Improvements Project
Mayor Roswarski presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for S. 30th Street Drainage
Improvements Project with Atlas Excavating in the amount of $1,430,624.00. Mayor Roswarski spoke about the
current conditions of the road. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.

Notice to Proceed- S. 30th Street Drainage Improvements Project
Mayor Roswarski presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the S. 30th Street
Drainage Improvements Project. The notice to proceed begins on April 7, 2020 with a substantial completion by
September 20, 2020 and a final completion by October 20, 2020. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray
seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Mayor Roswarski presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $671,166.56. President Henriott asked a
question on Page 15 regarding payment to Ball State. Mayor Roswarski stated that is continuing education for
supervisors. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
