MINUTES
August 29, 2023
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Amy Moulton, Eric Rody
and Ron Shriner
Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the August 22, 2023 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray
seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Economic Development
Historic Demolition Permit-124 S. 7th Street
John Collier, Economic Development, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Historic
Demolition Permit for 124 S. 7th Street. Mr. Collier stated that Dann Keiser, Lafayette Historic Preservation
Officer, determined that the loss of the structure would negatively affect the historic district and recommended
upholding the 60-day waiting period. Mr. Shriner moved to uphold the 60-day waiting period. Mr. Rody
seconded. Passed.
Purchasing
Declaration of Surplus Property-Lafayette Renew
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus Property for the
Lafayette Renew Department that includes a Semi-trailer container 50’ long, 8’ wide and 9’7” tall, No VIN or
Serial Number. President Henriott stated that the item will be sold as scrap. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval.
Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Declaration of Surplus Property-Fleet Maintenance
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus Property for
Fleet Maintenance that includes a CarJack USA vehicle lift Serial Number ????1448, City ID Number: None.
President Henriott stated that the equipment will be sold, traded or scrapped. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval.

President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus Property for

approval. Mr. Rody seconded. Passed.
Water Works
Permission to Advertise-Glick Wellfield Improvements
Steve Moore, Water Works Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to
Advertise for the Glick Wellfield Improvements Project. Publications are set to run on August 31 and September
7, 2023 with the bid opening set for September 26, 2023. Mr. Moore gave the Board a brief description of the
project. Discussion ensued. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Rody seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Jeremy Diehl, Controller, presented for Board approval of Claims in the amount of $5,246,851.23. President
Henriott asked a question on Page 17 regarding the Gray Media Group Invoice and the status of that contract.
Mayor Roswarski stated that it has only been about a month, but everything is going ok so far. Mr. Diehl stated
that the invoice is for LPD recruiting tactics. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request-Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Avery Smith, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event
Request for Walk to End Alzheimer’s that will be held on October 21, 2023 from 6:00am-3:00pm on Riehle
Plaza, John T. Myers Bridge and the Heritage Trail. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Rody seconded.

Special Event Request-Sidewalk Chalk Festival
Harry Mohler, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event
Request for Sidewalk Chalk Festival to be held September 15-16, 2023 from 11:00am-5:00pm located at the
corner of 7th Street and North Street along the sidewalks around First Baptist Church and the Tippecanoe Arts
Federation. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.
