~ LAFAYETTE ~ MINUTES OF THE LAFAYETTE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION August 24, 2023 11:00 am Council Chambers, City Hall Attendance Commissioners: Frank Donaldson, James Foster, Shelly Henriott, Jos Holman, Jim Terry Absent: Ex-Officio Members: Dave Moulton, Josh Loggins Absent: Staff: John Collier, Economic Development Assistant Director; Myles Holtsclaw, Economic Development Community Development Manager; Michelle Conwell; Economic Development Administrative Coordinator; Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney; Kara Boyles, Legal Intern; Jeromy Grenard, City Engineer; David Griffee, Assistant Director of Public Works; David Huhnke, Communications and Marketing; Tony Roswarski, Mayor; Cindy Murray, City Clerk Guests: John Paul Volk, Toyota Tsusho; Mike Schopmeyer, KDDK (Attorney representing Toyota Tsusho); Collin Huffines, Greater Lafayette Commerce; Dave Bangert, Independent Journalist Welcome and Call to Order James Foster welcomed everyone to the Redevelopment Commission meeting, noted that a quorum was present and opened the meeting of the Lafayette Redevelopment Commission at 11:00am. Minutes Jos Holman moved to approve the minutes of the July 27, 2023 meeting. Shelly Henriott seconded and the motion passed unanimously. New Business RESOLUTION LRC-2023-08: A Resolution Recommending Designation of an Economic Revitalization Area for Tax Abatement and Recommending Approval of Deduction for Tax Abatement- /SF Realty, Inc. Real Property- Indiana Steel requested that the resolution be withdrawn from the agenda. RESOLUTION LRC-2023-09: A Resolution Recommending Approval of a Deduction for the Purpose of Tax Abatement in an Economic Revitalization Area-Indiana Steel Fabricating, Inc. Personal Property- Indiana Steel requested that the resolution be withdrawn from the agenda. RESOLUTION LRC-2023-10: A Resolution Recommending Approval of a Deduction for the Purpose of Tax Abatement in an Economic Revitalization Area-Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. Personal Property-John Paul Volk of Toyota Tsusho and Mike Schopmeyer of KDDK presented a proposal requesting a seven-year graduated abatement for a personal property investment of $15M in new machinery and equipment at a new leased warehouse facility at 2730 Park East Blvd. Toyota Tsusho is expanding their wheel assembly operations with SIA that will add 50 new jobs. The Mayor spoke in favor of the abatement. Jos Holman moved to approve and Jim Terry seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Director's Report John Collier reported on behalf of Dennis Carson that Streetscape VII will reach substantial completion by September 8, 2023. Claims Jim Terry moved to approve the August 2023 claims in the amount of Two Million, Fifty-Two Thousand, Five Hundred Sixty Dollars and Seven Cents ($2,052,560.07). Shelly Henriott seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Public Comment-no comment Adjournment Jos Holman moved to adjourn the meeting. Shelly Henriott seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
