MINUTES OF THE LAFAYETTE COMMON COUNCIL
DECEMBER 2, 2019
REGULAR MEETING
The Common Council of the City of Lafayette, Indiana met in regular session on Monday,
December 2, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 20 North 6th Street,
Lafayette, Indiana.
President Campbell called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
Present: Heide, Klinker, Nargi, Reynolds, Brown, Ahlersmeyer, Weast-Williamson, Downing
and Campbell
City Clerk Cindy Murray and City Attorney Ed Chosnek were present
Mayor Roswarski presented a plaque from the city to the Lafayette Jefferson Marching Bronchos
Councilman Weast-Williamson moved to approve the minutes of the November 4, 2019 council
meeting, Councilman Downing seconded. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
There were no Disposal of Claims, Petitions or Communications:
The Clerk stated the following reports are available in the City Clerk’s Office:
Water Works Department Monthly-October
Renew Department Monthly-October
Fleet Maintenance Monthly-October
Lafayette Police Department Monthly-October
There were no Ordinances for Second Reading.
Ordinances for First Reading:
The Clerk read Ordinance 2019-32 (An Ordinance to Amend the Zoning Ordinance of
Tippecanoe County, Indiana, to Certain Real Estate from NB to R2U-2113 Kossuth St.,
Alexander Bowman, petitioner) by title only on first and final reading. Councilman Klinker
moved for passage, Councilwoman Nargi seconded. Alexander Bowman, Petitioner spoke
regarding the Ordinance. Ordinance 2019-32 passed 8-0 on a roll call vote on first and final
reading.
Resolutions:
The Clerk read Resolution 2019-22 (A Resolution Supporting Designation of United States
Bicycle Route 37) by title only on first and final reading. Councilwoman Nargi moved for
passage, Councilman Reynolds seconded. Margy Deverall, Economic Development spoke
regarding the Resolution. Resolution 2019-22 passed 8-0 on a roll call vote on first and final
reading.
No Reports of Standing Committees.
No Reports of Special Committees.
Report by the Mayor:
Mayor Roswarski congratulated the council members on the beginning of their new terms.
Mayor Roswarski announced that in 2020 the city will be working with the community to create
a climate change resolution.
Iris O’Donnell, Purdue University spoke regarding her plan to assist the city with the climate
change resolution.

Councilman Heide moved to adjourn, Councilman Klinker seconded. Meeting was adjourned at
7:05 PM.
