MINUTES OF THE LAFAYETTE COMMON COUNCIL APRIL 19, 2022 SPECIAL MEETING (https://www.youtube.com/user/CityofLafayetteIN/live The Common Council of the City of Lafayette, Indiana met in special session Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 5:00 pm. President Brown called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. Present: Klinker, Snyder, Reynolds, Hession Weiss, Weast-Williamson, Downing and Brown Absent: Nargi, Ahlersmeyer City Clerk Cindy Murray and City Attorney Jacque Chosnek were present. Ordinances for First Reading: The Clerk read Ordinance 2022-10 (An Ordinance to Amend Section 5.01.130 of the Lafayette City Code to Amend Water Rates to Reflect Repeal of Utility Receipts Tax) by title only on first reading. Councilwoman Hession Weiss moved for passage, Councilwoman Weast-Williamson seconded. Jacque Chosnek, city attorney gave a brief explanation of the change due to the State of Indiana repealing the Utility Receipts Tax. Ordinance 2022-10 passed 6-0 on a roll call vote on first reading. President Brown requested to suspend the rules and hear Ordinance 2022-10 on second and final reading. Councilman Reynolds moved for suspension of rules, Councilwoman Hession Weiss seconded. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote. The Clerk read Ordinance 2022-10 (An Ordinance to Amend Section 5.01.130 of the Lafayette City Code to Amend Water Rates to Reflect Repeal of Utility Receipts Tax) by title only on second and final reading. Councilman Hession Weiss moved for passage, Councilwoman Williamson seconded. Ordinance 2022-10 passed 6-0 on a roll call vote on second and final reading. There was no Public Comment. Councilman Klinker move to adjourn. Councilwoman Hession Weiss seconded. Motion passed meeting adjourned at 5:05 PM.
