LAFAYETTE HEARING AUTHORITY January 13, 2015 The Lafayette Hearing Authority met on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 9:42 a.m. in the City Council Chambers of Lafayette City Hall. Present were: Ron Shriner, Gary Henriott and Cindy Murray Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy Attorney, was also present. Mr. Shriner called the meeting to order. MINUTES Mr. Henriott moved for approval of the September 9, 2014 minutes. Mrs. Murray seconded. Motion Carried. OLD BUSINESS Continuation of Hearing regarding 617 New York Street Scott Dieterle, Engineering Office, stated that Dionysios Lyrintzis has purchased the house but has been in contact with the mother. Mr. Dieterle stated that he is going to make an appointment to speak with her next week to establish a game plan. The plan is to fix up the property back to its original state. Mr. Dieterle recommended continuing this to allow the owner to start fixing it up and Mr. Lyrintzis to move in. Mr. Henriott moved to continue this order. Mrs. Murray seconded. Motion Carried. NEW BUSINESS Order to Comply and Notice to Appear at Demolition Hearing-3029 Yorktown Court Mr. Dieterle stated that the overall house is not horrible however there are some areas around the house that need attention. There is siding missing, black board has been torn off in some areas, fascia and soffit is falling down on the south side of the house and broken windows throughout. Mr. Dieterle stated that he sent a letter with no response from the owner until the last few days. The house is currently vacant. Mr. Dieterle stated that he received a phone call and there is a desire to fix the issues of the house. Leslie Wagers, Attorney for Manley Deas & Kochalski, stated that she represents Saline Finance. Ms. Wagers stated that Saline is the second servicer on the mortgage on this property, who just received it from Bank of America. Ms. Wagers stated that Saline is aware now of the issues of the property and are leaning towards making the appropriate repairs on the house. Saline will need to talk to their investor, Ginnie Mae, to get approval. Mr. Dieterle recommended demolition of the house but will work with Saline to make a plan for the repairs. Mrs. Murray moved to affirm the order for demolition. Mr. Henriott seconded. Motion Carried. Mr. Dieterle presented the Board with a map of the all the Hearing Authority properties ranging from letters being sent to total demolitions. The map has colored dots showing where all the violations that are heard through the Hearing Authority along with the number of letters to total demolitions since the beginning of the Hearing Authority. Discussion ensued.
