The City of Lafayette Park and Recreation Board met in regular meeting, November 18, 2019, at

The meeting was called to order by Park Board President Dave Mecklenburg. Board members
present were Pat Corey and Maurie Denney. Parks Superintendent Claudine Laufman, Director
of Operations Jon Miner, and Recording Secretary Carlynn Smith were present. Parks staff
members present were Mike Perry, Kurt Wolf, Chad Aldridge, Neil Dale, and Samantha Haville.

October 21, 2019 regular Park Board meeting were approved.
Upon motion by Mr. Denney, seconded by Ms. Corey, and unanimously carried, claims in the
amount of $163,961.47 were approved.
Superintendent’s Report:
Superintendent Laufman introduced new Marketing Manager Samantha Haville, who
then shared information regarding her educational and professional background and
experiences.
Superintendent Laufman updated the Board on Phase 3 of the Memorial Island project.
Construction documents are 90% complete. Only one bid was submitted for dredging,
and because it was considerably higher than anticipated, other options are being
considered. An approximate timeline, subject to change, is as follows: Bids accepted in
January, opened in February, awarded in March, and construction to begin in April or
May.
Jon Miner reported on the Loeb Stadium construction project. Infrastructure work and
utility relocation on Main Street are taking longer than anticipated, and the street will
likely remain closed through mid-December.
Mike Perry shared an update on work that is underway for the construction of the new
playground at McAllister Recreation Center.
Neil Dale reported on a successful 2019 Boo at the Zoo. Weather, attendance, and
revenue were all good. He also gave an update on construction progress at the penguin
house.
Superintendent Laufman previewed the December meeting, which will include budgets
and proposed fee changes. City of Lafayette Controller Tim Clary and Deputy Controller
Jeremy Diehl are expected to attend.
