Parks Board

MEETING OF THE LAFAYETTE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD REGULAR MEETING 4:00 pm December 16, 2019 The City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Board met in regular meeting, December 16, 2019, at 4:00pm in Rush Pavilion in Columbian Park. The meeting was called to order by Park Board President Dave Mecklenburg. Board members present were Pat Corey, John Ragan, and Maurie Denney. Parks Superintendent Claudine Laufman, Parks Director of Operations Jon Miner, and Recording Secretary Carlynn Smith were present. Parks staff members present were Kurt Wolf, Ben Taylor, Chad Aldridge, Samantha Haville, and Caitlin Laffery. Upon motion by Ms. Corey, seconded by Mr. Denney, and unanimously carried, minutes of the November 18, 2019 Parks Board meeting were approved. Upon motion by Mr. Denney, seconded by Mr. Ragan, and unanimously carried, claims in the amount of $45,694.57 were approved. Superintendent’s Report:  Superintendent Laufman introduced recently hired Assistant Zoo Director Caitlin Laffery, who spoke to the Board regarding her background.  Jon Miner provided an update on progress at the Loeb construction site and the reopening of Main Street.  Additional updates regarding Memorial Island, Carousel, and Penguin Exhibit projects were provided. New Business:  Upon motion by Ms. Corey, seconded by Mr. Denney, and unanimously carried, the Board approved Resolution 19-06, the 2020 Non-reverting Budget. (see Attachment A)  Upon motion by Ms. Corey, seconded by Mr. Ragan, and unanimously carried, the Board approved recommended changes to 2020 fees and charges for Aquatics, shelters, and McAllister Recreation Center.
