REGULAR MEETING OF THE LAFAYETTE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD 4:00 pm 26 June 2023 The City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Board met in regular meeting at 4:00pm, June 26, 2023. The meeting was held at Rush Pavilion in Columbian Park. The meeting was called to order by Park Board President Matt Metzger. Board members present were Maurie Denney, Dave Mecklenburg and Siany Molina. Parks Superintendent Claudine Laufman, Parks Director of Operations Jon Miner and Recording Secretary Jenny Spencer were present. Parks staff members present were Mike Perry, Kurt Wolf, Samantha Haville and Ashley Wulff. City Council Member, Bob Downing was also present. Upon motion by Mr. Denney, seconded by Mr. Mecklenburg and unanimously carried, minutes of the June 10, 2023 Parks Board meeting were approved. Upon motion of Mr. Mecklenburg, seconded by Ms. Molina, and unanimously carried, General Fund Claims in the amount of $43,434.17, Non-Reverting Fund Claims in the amount of $59,378.72 for a total of $102,812.89 were approved. Superintendent’s Report:  Superintendent Laufman began her report with news from Deb Schmucker of Cornerstone PDS that over one thousand responses to the online survey have been received with input for the Five-Year Master Plan.  Marketing Manager Haville shared that 239 tickets for the Taylor Swift laser light show have been sold. The show is 9:30pm-11:00pm on July 27th. Ticket sales continue for the Air Supply concert on July 28th with just over 2,400 tickets having been sold. Tickets also went on sale for the Scotty McCreery concert coming to Loeb Stadium on August 17th. Over 1,200 tickets have been sold. The next Art in the Park is scheduled for July 11th at Columbian Park. The theme is “Baseball Night”. There will be buy one, get one for free tickets to that evening’s Aviators game. Scott Greason will be performing at the Memorial Island Amphitheater as well.  Superintendent Laufman introduced Steve Prieschel of WDGC to recognize his efforts and partnership for the advancement of Disc Golf in our area and improvements to our courses. He was presented with a certificate of appreciation from Mayor Roswarski and a small gift as he relocates out of the area.  Project Updates - The McCaw Park project is progressing with pipes being set for the dog waterers. The last leg of the water line is being bored. The parking lot was tested and almost half failed. Options for remediation are being discussed. Park Board Minutes 6/26/2023 Page 1 - Director of Operations Miner shared an aquatics update. Revenue and attendance at this time is slightly behind last year due to a couple of weather closures this past week, and the Castaway closure due to pump mechanical issues. Concession revenue remains ahead of last year. Upon motion by Mr. Denney, seconded by Ms. Molina and unanimously carried, the Declaration of Worthless Property was approved. (Attachment A) Communications:  Board: Mr. Metzger shared approval of the recognition of Mr. Prieschel. Mr. Denney was pleased with the Indiana Baseball All Star games at Loeb.
