REGULAR MEETING OF THE LAFAYETTE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD 4:00 pm 10 July 2023 The City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Board met in regular meeting at 4:00pm, July 10, 2023. The meeting was held at Rush Pavilion in Columbian Park. The meeting was called to order by Park Board President Matt Metzger. Board members present were Maurie Denney, Dave Mecklenburg and Siany Molina. Parks Superintendent Claudine Laufman, Parks Director of Operations Jon Miner and Recording Secretary Jenny Spencer were present. Parks staff members present were Mike Perry, Kurt Wolf, Samantha Haville and Ashley Wulff. Upon motion by Mr. Mecklenburg, seconded by Mr. Denney and unanimously carried, minutes of the June 26, 2023 Parks Board meeting were approved. Upon motion of Mr. Denney, seconded by Ms. Molina, and unanimously carried, General Fund Claims in the amount of $44,763.30, Non-Reverting Fund Claims in the amount of $60,444.24 and Bond Fund Claims in the amount of $459,659.38 for a total of $564,866.92 were approved. Superintendent’s Report:  Marketing Manager Haville began the Superintendent’s report by updating ticket sales for the upcoming events at Loeb Stadium. The Taylor Swift laser light show has sold 457 tickets. The show is 9:30pm-11:00pm on July 27th. Ticket sales continue for the Air Supply concert on July 28th with just over 2,564 tickets having been sold. The Scotty McCreery concert has sold 1134 tickets.  The next Art in the Park is tomorrow at Columbian Park. The theme is “Baseball Night”. There will be buy one, get one for free tickets to that evening’s Aviators game. Several players will be available for autographs and a meet and greet. Scott Greason will be performing at the Memorial Island Amphitheater as well. The final Art in the Park will be August 1st at Armstrong Park. There will be a DJ with music from 6pm – 8:30pm.  Tonight, there will be a focus group meeting at Grant’s House soliciting input for the All- Inclusive Playground at CAT Park.  Director of Operations Miner provided an aquatics update, please see attached Aquatics Report for the details through June 30, 2023.  Assistant Zoo Director Caitlin Laffery shared an update on the zoo numbers thus far in the season. There have been 43,364 paid admissions to date compared to 40,758 in 2022. Overall revenue is up $252,270.71 this year versus $237,315.34 this time in 2022  Project Updates - The McCaw Park restroom building slab is about to be poured. Park Board Minutes 7/10/2023 Page 1 - The Armstrong Park Playground is set for an Aug/Sept install – may be here early. Improvements are set for the basketball and tennis courts in that area as well. - Mr. Miner also shared that the Aqua Loop slide was out of commission due to a defunct PLC. The manufacturer was not a great deal of help in discussing troubleshooting. A new $5,000.00 part is on order. Upon motion by Mr. Denney, seconded by Ms. Molina and unanimously carried, the Declaration of Worthless Property was approved.
