MEETING

ATTENDANCE: COMMISSIONERS: John Thieme, Jr.; Mary Lundstrom.; Jim Terry; Jos Holman; and Greg Eller. CITY
OFFICIALS: Ed Chosnek, City Attorney; Dennis Carson, Economic Development Director STAFF: Margy Deverall, City
Planner; and Dan Walker, City Planner; GUESTS: Belinda Kiger, City Forester; Michael Steiner, JF New; Shawn Siroky,
Parks Department; and Keith O’Brien, TBird Design Services.
Welcome and Call to Order
Vice-President Mary Lundstrom welcomed everyone to the meeting, noted that a quorum was present, and
opened the meeting of the Lafayette Redevelopment Commission.
Accept Contract from JF New for Landscaping Trailhead Park
Belinda Kiger introduced the history of the Trailhead Park project and the background for bidding the landscape
portion of that project. Costs for soil, trees, and changes to the seed species for more prairie landscaping all
contributed to new considerations and amendments to the original specifications. The contract with JF New
represents a reduction landscaping cost. Soil and trees will be ordered by the City for JF New.
Michael Steiner confirmed that his company and the City of Lafayette have had a long standing relationship and
expressed pleasure to continue that by serving the City through this project. Belinda Kiger affirmed that the
quality of workmanship by JF New contributed to the recommendation.
Keith O’Brien of TBird Design Services added that the sharp edges from the pavement areas would benefit
from the additional sod and landscaping work and contribute to improved public safety issues.
Ed Chosnek and Michael Steiner clarified prevailing wage concerns expressed by the Commission. Michael
Steiner also confirmed that the time period for completion would be about a month.
Jos Holman moved to approve the contract with JF New for landscaping the Trailhead Park in the amount of
$46,075. John Thieme, Jr. seconded. The motion passed.
Public Comment/ Adjournment
Mary Lundstrom invited comment from the public. Hearing none, several Commissioners moved to adjourn.
Jim Terry seconded. The meeting adjourned.
