APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE November 12, 2007 The meeting was called to order at 8:40 pm. ROLL CALL: Present –President Tolomei, Trustees Branding, Callahan, McAvoy, Poynton, and Taylor. Trustee Johnson was excused. Also present – Administrator Dixon, Village Attorney Browne, Finance Director Martynowicz, Police Chief Urry, Fire Chief Mastandrea, Park and Recreation Director Perkins, Public Works Director/Engineer Heyden, Building and Zoning Director Peterson. APPROVAL OF OCTOBER 8, 2007 MINUTES: MOTION made by Trustee McAvoy, seconded by Trustee Poynton, to approve the minutes of the October 8, 2007 Committee of the Whole as submitted. Voice vote, all in favor. MOTION CARRIED. NEWSLINE – DECEMBER EDITION Trustree Taylor asked residents to pay careful attention to the article regarding mail box placement and snow plowing. Trustee Branding questioned if the Newsline would be posted on the new website. Village Administrator concurred. MOTION was made by Trustee Callahan, seconded by Trustee Branding, to recommend the Board of Trustees approve the December edition of Newsline as presented. AYES: 5 Trustees Branding, Callahan, McAvoy, Poynton, and Taylor NAYS: 0 MOTION CARRIED OTHER BUSINESS: President Tolomei referred to recent articles on the Canadian National Railroad purchase of the EJ & E and the possibility of a commuter rail service run through Lake Zurich, along with the freight line. Neighboring communities are contemplating fighting this due to increase in train traffic and crossings. Some Trustees feel a commuter rail service would be beneficial to the residents. The train bridge over the recently finished Route 22 bypass does not include the required double track. A representative from the Village will attend an upcoming meeting to be held at the Northwest Municipal Conference on Tuesday, November 20th, to learn more about this issue. Committee of the Whole Minutes, November 12, 2007 2 President Tolomei requested a Trustee represent the Village at the next monthly meeting of the Northwest Municipal Conference on Wednesday, November 14th, since he is unable to attend. ADJOURNMENT: MOTION made by Trustee McAvoy, seconded by Trustee Callahan, to adjourn the meeting. Voice vote, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED. The meeting was adjourned at 8:54 pm.
