O. Tree Commission Agendas/

APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH TREE COMMISSION 505 Telser Road, Lake Zurich June 8, 2010 7:00 PM A. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Garrison at 7 PM Present were Chairman Garrison, Members Tony Harper, Mary Kozub, and Shawn Walkington. B. SWEARING IN OF NEW MEMBERS- Mayor Branding swore in Toni Rey and James Mihelic as the new members of the Tree Commission C. ROLL CALL - Present Chairman Garrison, Commissioner Harper, Commissioner Kozub, Commissioner Rey, Commissioner Mihelic and Liaison Walkington. D. PUBLIC COMMENT- There was no public comment E. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Commissioner Kozub motioned to accept the May 4, 2010 meeting minutes. Commission Harper seconded. Voice vote, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED. F. OLD BUSINESS - Commissioner Garrison said Shalom Cemetery was pleased with the thank you letter sent and that there were no additional charges for the plaque. Plans to set the rock and plaque were set for next Monday. G. NATURAL OPEN SPACE – Commissioner Kozub presented packets with information to use for our Natural Open Space Ordinance and what areas it could apply to. Commission discussed different ideas for the ordinance and what land they would like to see or could be used as Natural Open Space. Liaison Walkington will get extra zoning maps and try and get square footage of areas that could be Natural Open Space for next meeting. H. ARBOR DAY - Commissioner Garrison would like the Tree Commission to start thinking of ways to make Arbor Day better for next year. Commissioners will put together lists of things they would like to see done for Arbor Day for next meeting. I. NEW BUSINESS - 1. Recording of meetings- Commissioner Harper wanted to know if we could purchase new recorder. Tree Commission meeting, June 8, 2010 2 2. Oak Preservation- Commissioner Kozub would like to look into ordinance for oak canopy removal. 3. Meeting change- Commissioner Kozub made a motion to change July 6th meeting to July 13th. Commissioner Harper seconded. All were in favor. 4. Plan review- Casper Electronics- Plan was rejected for the following reasons. They do not have enough tree islands in parking lot area. They can not have trees of same genus planted next to each other. 5. Tree Planting- Commissioner Mihelic wanted to know when the dead tree at the west end of promenade would be removed and replaced. Liaison Walkington said plantings are being done in the next couple weeks. J. ADJOURNMENT – MOTION was made by Commissioner Kozub, seconded by Commissioner Harper, to adjourn the meeting.
