APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH TREE COMMISSION MINUTES 505 Telser Road, Lake Zurich July 13, 2010 7:00 PM A. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Garrison at 7 PM B. Roll Call-Present were Chairman Garrison, Members Tony Harper, Mary Kozub, Toni Rey, Jim Mihelic and Liaison Shawn Walkington. C. PUBLIC COMMENT- There was no public comment. D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Commissioner Kozub motioned to accept the May 4, 2010 meeting minutes. Commission Harper seconded. Voice vote, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED. F. OLD BUSINESS - Commissioner Garrison gave out a list to Commissioners with their phone numbers and E-mail addresses. G. NATURAL OPEN SPACE – Commissioner Harper wrote a description and passed out documentation on the benefits of Natural Open Space. Members discussed the handouts and where to go from here. There are concerns if there would be money available for maintenance of Natural Open Space. Chairman Garrison would like to get input from Park and Recreation Advisory Board as well as the Plan Commission. Chairman Garrison will meet with Mayor Branding to see if she thinks this is something the Village of Lake Zurich is interested in. H. ARBOR DAY – Commission discussed ways to make Arbor Day a better event. They would like to see more advertising of the event. Possibly putting on the sign board at Paulus, putting in newspaper, on website or Village of Lake Zurich cable channel. I. NEW BUSINESS - Plan Review Wal-Mart: They cannot plant trees of the same Genus next to each other and they need to add couple different Genus of trees. Motion was made to reject plan. All were in favor. J. ADJOURNMENT – MOTION was made by Commissioner Kozub, seconded by Commissioner Harper, to adjourn the meeting. Voice vote, AYES have it.
