BOROUGH OF LANSDALE PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES – APRIL 4, 2024 MEMBERS PRESENT Rachael Bollens, Chairperson BJ Breish Mary Fuller Courtney Meehan, Director of Parks and Recreation MEMBERS NOT PRESENT PUBLIC PRESENT Lenny Diehl, NPVGSA ACTION ITEMS: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion to approve March 6, 2024, minutes by Councilman Breish, seconded by Councilwoman Fuller. Motion passes 3-0. DEPARTMENT REQUESTS  North Penn Valley Girls Softball Association (NPVGSA) – approved to host 10 tournaments in 2024. Permitted to use four fields for the tournament on July 6 and 7. Staff and NPVGSA will assess the parking situation and make modifications for future use, if necessary. o Public Comment – None  Alcohol sales at Festival of the Arts – motion to permit the Parks and Recreation Department to contract with a vendor to sell alcohol during the Festival of the Arts at Memorial Park. Motion by Councilwoman Fuller, seconded by Councilman Breish. Motion passes 3-0. o Public Comment - None  Old Business The application for the DCNR C2P2 grant for W. 5th Street Park was submitted on April 3. The application for the CDBG program is due next week. Grant recipients will be notified in the fall. The pool study is wrapping up. The first draft is expected to be completed this month. After review, it will be presented to full council for adoption. Courtney advised that the capital budget will include the estimated costs for the recommended repairs and renovations.  New Business The Department will evaluate their current weather contingency plan for events. This includes planning for rain dates and partnering with local churches or the school district to move events indoors, if necessary.  Public Comment None. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS:  Pool staff update Both pools are fully staffed for the summer.  April Events/Programs o Yoga – Wednesdays, 4/3-4/24, P&R Activity Room o Free 10 & Under Tennis Play Day – 4/7, Memorial Park o T-Ball – Saturdays, 4/13-5/18, 4th St. Park o Earth Day Crafts – 4/13, Wiss.
