COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG January 22, 2015 The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session. The following members were present: Council Member Fox, Mayor Keith Durham, Council Member Williams, Council Member Moore and Council Member Sevier. With a quorum present the meeting was called to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2014 Council Meeting was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously. Mayor Durham presented retirement awards to Kenneth “Bo” Glass for over 23 years of service to the Sanitation, Parks & Recreation and Public Works Department; Charles “Chuck” Brown for 34 years of service to the Parks and Recreation and Public Works Department. City Administrator, Chris Shaffer, informed the Council that over 50 employees are joining the AirEvac Program; bond projects are ongoing and thanked Doss Brothers for the use of their lift to get construction material into the third floor window. A Benefit Committee has been formed and property tax is around 36% so far this year with February being the busiest time for taxes. Citizens wishing to apply for tax relief (those making less than $28,270 annually to qualify) may apply with Edie. Fire Chief Jay had a pinning ceremony for three firemen receiving promotions: Ryan Mattox, Jason Frakes, and Shane Adams. ORDINANCE NO. 1150 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.1144 ENTITLED BUDGET APPROPRIATIONS OF REVENUE AND EXPENDITURES FOR THE 2014-2015 FISCAL YEAR FOR THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE. Motion to approve on second and final reading was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. ORDINANCE NO. 1151 AN ORDINANCE FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 1145 TO ENTER INTO A COLLECTION SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH PIONEER CREDIT RECOVERY, INC. PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF TCA §40-24-105(e) – First Reading Motion to approve on first reading was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member Moore. Motion passed unanimously. RESOLUTION(S) A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO REAPPOINT JERRY JONES AND RON EVANS TO THE LAWRENCEBURG PUBLIC BUILDING AUTHORITY BOARD Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO AUTHORIZE THE LAWRENCEBURG FIRE DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR A 555 FITNESS GRANT FOR FITNESS EQUIPMENT FOR THE LAWRENCEBURG FIRE DEPARTMENT Motion to approve was made by Council Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously. A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO ACCEPT THE BID FOR FUEL FROM EDWARDS OIL COMPANY FOR 10% ETHANOL GASOLINE TO BE USED IN CERTAIN CITY VEHICLES Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier with a second by Council Member Williams. Mayor Durham, recused himself from voting due to him working for Edwards Oil Company. Motion passed with all four Council Members voting aye. A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO ACCEPT THE BID FOR FUEL FROM WILSON OIL COMPANY FOR PURE GASOLINE AND DIESEL FUEL TO BE USED IN CERTAIN CITY VEHICLES Motion to approve was made to by Council Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF TENNESSEE DRIVER SERVICES DIVISION TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. Council Member Fox mentioned that Judge Patty McGuire is back in the hospital and Reverend Jeff Perkins has passed away. With no further business to come before the Council a motion was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Meeting adjourned.
