COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG June 25, 2015 The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session. The following members were present: Council Member Fox, Mayor Keith Durham, Council Member Sevier, and Council Member Williams. Council Member Moore was absent. With a quorum present the meeting was called to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion to approve the minutes of the June 11, 2015 Council Meeting was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. Mayor Durham presented a retirement award to Bill Waltz for over 10.5 years of service to the Lawrenceburg Parks and Recreation Department. Mayor Durham also announced the closing of city offices on July 3, for Independence Day. City Administrator, Chris Shaffer informed the Council the new employee for the Parks and Recreation Department is Alan Chapman; our insurance partner TML Pool is supplying on-line training for the City employees that meet all the required criteria for OSHA (Federal and State). Mr. Shaffer introduced Karen Carter; she addressed the Council on a concern about property adjacent to Rotary Park on Guard Drive and the type fencing to be used should a drive be placed there. Emergency Director, Joe Baxter gave a report on the Flood Control Project; stating we are on the last 200 feet of completion of the channel. However, we have several giant boulders we have to break up in order to finish. This has proven to be a difficult task. This project is two miles long and has 11 street crossings. We also have communication projects going on; we have installed a tower on the roof of this building and Channel 5 News wants to put their weather camera on our roof. We would get all their weather information here; and we are in the process of installing a repeater station. ORDINANCE(S) ORDINANCE NO. 1158 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.1144 ENTITLED BUDGET APPROPRIATIONS OF REVENUE AND EXPENDITURES FOR THE 2014-2015 FISCAL YEAR FOR THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE. Second and Final Reading Motion to approve on second and final reading was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously. RESOLUTION(S) 2015-25-6-A A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE AN APPROPRIATION TO THE ATTACHED LIST OF NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS BY THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG DURING THE 2014-2015 FISCAL YEAR Motion to approve was made by Council Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Sever. Motion passed unanimously. 2015-25-6B A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO AMEND RESOLUTION NUMBER 2015-26-3G CONTRACT WITH GRIGGS AND MALONEY INCORPORATED TO REFLECT THE CORRECT COST ESTIMATE TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR SPRINGER ROAD IMPROVEMENTS Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. 2015-26-6C A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH GRIGGS AND MALONEY INCORPORATED (ENGINEERING FIRM) TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE 2016 SPRINGER ROAD IMPROVEMENTS Motion to approve was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously. 2015-25-6D A RESOLUTION FOR BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO REAPPOINT CURTIS PETERS AS THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG’S REPRESENTATIVE ON THE SENIOR CITIZENS BOARD Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. 2015-25-6E A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO APPOINT ROBERT JONES TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES Motion to approve was made by Council Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. 2015-26-6F A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG TO AUTHORIZE THE LAWRENCEBURG PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO REQUEST BIDS FOR FENCING AT ROTARY PARK Motion to approve was made by Council Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. With no further business to come before the board motion was made by Council Member Williams to adjourn, with a second by Council Member Fox. Motion passed.
