COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG February 25, 2016 The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session. The following members were present: Council Member Fox, Mayor Keith Durham, Council Member, Council Member Moore, Council Members Williams and Council Member Sevier. With a quorum present the meeting was called to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion to approve the minutes of the January 28 and February 11, 2016 Council Meeting was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member Fox. Motion passed unanimously. Human Resources Director, Doug Edwards, explained to the Council the decision to recognize employees for their years of service, beginning with those with over 35 years of service and continuing until all have been recognized properly. Longevity Awards were presented to employees with over 35 years of service. Those employees include Terry Gray, Judy Moore, Jerry Campbell, Gary Hyde, and Joyce DiCapo. Chris Shaffer informed the Council that Parks & Recreation Department will be accepting applications for summer help until February 29. Property tax are past due after the 29th of February and we are at 80% of what was budgeted. We are also at 40% of business license that was budgeted. We are aware the circumstances with the state is one of the things causing this deficit. We should see an increase in April. Fire Chief, Jay Moore, informed the Council of two grant opportunities for the Fire Department and will try to have them presented at the next Council Meeting. ORDINANCE(S) ORDINANCE NO. 1171 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 963; 1029; 1039 AND ORDINANCE 1091 AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG TO FIX THE TIME AND PLACE AT WHICH THE REGULAR MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL SHALL BE HELD. First Reading Motion to approve on first reading was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. RESOLUTIONS(S) 2016-25-2A A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE SOUTH CENTRAL TENNESSEE DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS FOR THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE FOR SEWER SYSTEM REHABILITATION Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. 2016-25-2B A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO DECLARE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT AS SURPLUS TO BE SOLD AT AUCTION ON THE WEB Motion to approve was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Moore. Motion passed unanimously. 2016-25-2C A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO DECLARE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AS SURPLUS TO BE SOLD AT AUCTION ON THE WEB Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Fox. Motion passed unanimously. 2016-25-2D A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO AUTHORIZE THE LAWRENCEBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ENTER INTO A REIMBURSEMENT GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE GOVERNOR’S HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE IN THE AMOUNT OF UP TO ($5,000) FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously. Howard Johnston informed the Council of the LCHS Girls Basketball and the LCHS Boys Basketball teams winning the District Championship as well as Loretto High School Boys winning their District Championship. Each school will be hosting a game this Friday and Saturday. They should be recognized for their accomplishments. With no further business to come before the board motion to adjourn was made by Council Member Moore with a second by Council Member Fox. Meeting adjourned. Meeting adjourned.
