COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG
March 12, 2020
The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session. The following members were present:
Council Member Fox, Mayor Lay, and Council Member Moore; Council Member Robin Williams and
Council Member Sevier
With a quorum present the meeting was called to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion to approve the minutes of the February 27, 2020 Council Meeting was made by Council
Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Williams Motion passed unanimously.
City Administrator, Chris Shaffer, informed the Council of a Drone Dedication Monday morning at 10
a.m. at Fire Station 1.
Sanitation Department Manager, Gary Hyde, gave a report on the clean-up of Mimosa Cemetery. There
were some trees downed during the storm that the city did not have the proper equipment to clear away.
Doss Brothers volunteered a piece of equipment and an operator to handle that for us. It took most of the
day Monday to clear away that debris. We appreciate Doss Brothers for their assistance.
The LUS Financials for January, 2020 have been distributed, and accepted.
Mayor Lay stated we will be looking to the private sector to help with the repair of the tombstones in the
cemetery.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO REAPPOINT JOHN FERGUSON TO THE
LAWRENCEBURG HISTORICAL ZONING COMMISSION
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO APPOINT JOSH DUKE AS LAWRENCEBURG’S
REPRESENTATIVE ON THE LAWRENCE COUNTY
EQUALIZATION BOARD
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member Williams.
Motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Lay made a statement thanking all the members of the various boards of the City of
Lawrenceburg. We appreciate them taking time away from their family and friends to serve.
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO DECLARE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT ACQUIRED THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE AS SURPLUS TO
DISPOSED OF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG PURCHASING
POLICY
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Moore.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO DECLARE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AS SURPLUS TO BE DISPOSED OF IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE PURCHASING POLICY
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Moore.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO DECLARE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE CODES
DEPARTMENT AS SURPLUS TO BE DISPOSED OF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
PURCHASING POLICY
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member Williams.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG TO REQUEST BIDS FOR
WALL REPAIRS, RESTORATION AND PAINTING OF THE CROCKETT HISTORICAL
THEATER
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Sevier.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG TO REQUEST BIDS
FOR A STORAGE BUILDING FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE, TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF A 2016 FORD XL VAN 4-
D FOR USE BY THE LAWRENCEBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT IN ANIMAL CONTROL FROM
COMMODORE MOTORS, INC. IN MADISON, TN
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Moore.
Motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Lay advised everyone live your life and listen to the advice on the State and Federal level
concerning the Corona Virus. We will be working with them and advising our citizens should that be
required.
EMA Director, Joe Baxter, advised we have a change for severe weather tonight, it is supposed to be to the
North of us; but so was the last one. Be alert with your cell phones on and your weather radios and be
ready to get to your safe space. The severe weather event should be between 10:00 pm and 1:00 am.

With no further business to come before the board motion to adjourn was made by Council Member
Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed.
