COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG March 25, 2021 The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session. The meeting was also held by teleconference. The following members were present: Council Member Sevier, Council Member Fox, Council Member Williams, Mayor Lay and Council Member Moore. With a quorum present the meeting was called to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion to approve the minutes of the March 11, 2021 Council Meeting was made by Council Member Fox with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. A Public Hearing was opened on Ordinance No. 1304; with no one wishing to address the council the hearing closed. ORDINANCE(S) ORDINANCE NUMBER 1304 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NUMBER 789 ENTITLED THE “ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE” Second and Final Reading Motion to approve on second reading was made by Council Member Moore; with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed ORDINANCE NUMBER 1306 AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE AND ABANDON A 12 FOOT GRASS ALLEY BETWEEN PARK STREET AND EVERGREEN STREET; RUNNING NORTH TO SOUTH; RETENTION OF ANY UTILITY EASEMENTS; REPEAL OF CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; EFFECTIVE DATE. Second and Final Reading Motion to approve on second reading was made by Council Member Fox; with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed RESOLUTIONS A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO AUTHORIZE THE LAWRENCEBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT TO APPLY AND ACCEPT A 100% GRANT WITH THE TENNESSEE HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000.00 TO BE USED TO COMPENSATE OFFICERS FOR OVERTIME ON TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT OR TO BE USED FOR EQUIPMENT PURCHASES. Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore; with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG TO APPROVE A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TENNESSEE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR HOME GRANT FUNDS Motion to approve was made by Council Member Williams; with a second by Council Member Moore. Motion passed RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG TO APPROVE APPLICATION AND ACCEPT A GRANT THROUGH THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROLLER UPGRADE PIN NUMBER 129736.27 CONTRACT NUMBER: 210036 Motion to approve was made by Council Member Fox; with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed EMA Director, Shelton Barnett, updated the Council on the severe weather slated for our community today. We are a level of 5 of 5 which means “High Risk”. School will get out at 12:00 to hopefully get the kids off the bus before 3 PM. 2 PM until 10PM is slated to be the worst of the weather, especially if the sun comes out between 10 am and 2 PM. We are expecting hail as big as baseballs in some areas. With no further business to come before the board motion to adjourn was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier.
