COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG
April 28, 2022
The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session.
The following members were present: Mayor Lay, Council Member Sevier, Council Member
Moore and Council Member Williams. Council Member Fox was absent.
With a quorum present the meeting was called to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion to approve the minutes of the April 14, 2022 Council Meeting was made by Council
Member Moore with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously.
Police Chief Terry Beecham gave a report on the Police Department; He missed Administrative
Assistant Day and has 4; Tammy Watson, Tonya Thompson, Robin Huntley and Chuck
Brockman. Officer Evan Robbins has a new Baby Boy, born April 10 at 8.2 pounds and 21”
long. Our Call volume is averaging 218 calls for service as of April 25. Lori Bradford served in
a lifesaving incident at 1st Street and Springer Road; Josh McNeal helped a juvenile in mental
crisis at the hospital and an arrest was made in the April 15 Gillespie homicide case at the
Summit; Brandon Ware of Maury County with a $1 Million dollar bond. The deceased victim
behind China Buffet was Brian Varner, investigation ongoing. Accreditation process is moving
along; better than 6 months ahead of schedule. We are completing fiscal management policy to
ensure taxpayer monies are accounted for in a transparent manor from acceptance to deposit.
Cultivation of next generation Police Department Leaders thru training after identifying needs.
This will equal better service to the citizens of Lawrenceburg. June 2024 is completion target
date.

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NUMBER 789 ENTITLED THE “ZONING
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE”
Motion to approve on First reading was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by
Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously.
ORDINANCE NO. 1335
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.1317 ENTITLED BUDGET
APPROPRIATIONS OF REVENUE AND EXPENDITURES FOR THE 2021-2022
FISCAL YEAR FOR THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE GENERAL FUND.
Motion to approve on First reading was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by
Council Member Sevier. Motion passed.
RESOLUTION(S)
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO CALL FOR AN ELECTION OF COUNCIL SEAT 1,
COUNCIL SEAT 2, AND MAYOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH PRIVATE CHAPTER NO. 99,
OF THE PRIVATE ACTS OF 2008
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member
Williams. Motion passed.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO REAPPOINT ROBERT BEDFORD AND MATT
CALVERT TO THE LAWRENCEBURG PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member
Sevier. Motion passed.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE, TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF A 2015 FORD F-
150 FROM WILLIAMS AUTO SALES, LAWRENCEBURG FOR USE AT THE PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT.
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member
Williams. Motion passed.
Mayor Lay asked Pam Hyde for an update on the pool. Requires a learning curve as the person
that did take care of it retired. Plan to have it open by Memorial Day weekend. Had more
applicants for lifeguards and swimming lessons begin soon. Parking at Bobby Brewer Park still
a problem. Mayor assured Pam and the citizens they are working on alleviating that situation.
With no further business to come before the board motion to adjourn was made by Council
Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed.
