Member Taylor-Crawford reminded that the restoration/repair of donated/loaned
artifacts would occur only on a case-by-case basis with prior approval.
Update on Gathering of Artifacts - Joyce Moore
Vice Chair Moore advised the committee that as of May 15, 2021 seventy-seven (77)
artifacts had been committed to the library museum. She reminded the committee that
Hooper-Renwick Minutes
she had emailed copies of the Artifacts Report to them on May 20, 2021. There was
additional discussion about the artifacts that committee members Bailey, Brown,
Crawford-Taylor, Moore and Taylor identified on their tour of the Mt Calvary United
Methodist Church on May14, 2021. Multiple smaller items like collection plates, choir
robes and Bible/Hymnals were retrieved from the church and transported to City Hall
for storage by Council Member Glen Martin and Executive Assistant Paula Foil. Larger
artifacts such as furniture, stain glass windows, church bell, et al, will be salvaged
when the building is demolished and put into storage by the city.
The meeting was abruptly interrupted by loud music which appeared to come from someone
attempting to join. Vice-Chair Moore asked that they put their sound on mute. The caller
responded by spewing profanities and racially offensive language. Member Rory Johnson
observed that we had been hacked by a “Zoom Bomber.”
After brief discussion, Chair Bailey adjourned the meeting at 6:32 pm.
