Hooper-Renwick Minutes Date: Tuesday, June 15, 2021, 2021 meeting commenced at 6:07 p.m. Subject: Hooper-Renwick Legacy Preservation Committee Meeting, presided by Theresa Bailey, Chairperson of HRLPC In attendance: 1. Theresa Bailey 4. Marlene Taylor- 7. Greg Lott 2. Vivian Summerour Crawford 8. Gary Glenn Daniel 5. John Maxey 9. Coni Brown 3. Gwendolyn Taylor 6. Joyce Moore Also in attendance were Mayor Pro Tem Victoria Jones, City Manager Chuck Warbington, Councilman Glenn Martin, Paula Foil, and Theresa Livsey Lemmon Absent were HRLPC Members: Dr. R.D. Dunnigan, Rory Johnson, Rubye Neal Dr. John Maxey opened the meeting with a word of prayer Quorum Intake: Joyce Moore Quorum was obtained Seven (7) Norms read by Vivian S. Daniel After an amendment was made to the minutes from the meeting held on 5/18/21, these minutes were adopted and approved by the Committee. An amendment was made (approved & adopted) to the night’s agenda by adding Marlene Taylor Crawford to give an update on Past Perfect Software. We had a community-member present in the person of Theresa Livsey Lemmon, who is a member of the Livsey Family of the Promised Land and also attended Hooper-Renwick. She addressed the committee regarding her family as well as a Juneteenth event that was held the previous Saturday on her family’s grounds. Old Business:  Update on Past/Perfect Software by Marlene Taylor Crawford Marlene presented us with more information regarding PPS that is included in the attached presentation on Past Perfect Software:  Update on Gathering of Artifacts by Joyce Moore Joyce gave an account of what had been collected to date. Hooper-Renwick Minutes  Social Media Update given by Coni Brown  Review and Discussion of the Working File lead by Theresa Bailey. Upon the reviewing of this working file, much rich discussion took place from all HRLPC members who were present, regarding the history of Hooper-Renwick and African-American History of Gwinnett County. New Business  Committee Recognition: Theresa recognized HRLPC member Marlene Taylor Crawford on her new appointment with the Gwinnett Historical Society. Theresa informed the Committee of the Heritage Trail Medallion Recognition Ceremony will be held on July 26, 2021 at 7:00p.m. These medallions recognize the contributions of notable Lawrenceville residents. This year several African-Americans will be included in those being recognized.  Disruptive Intrusion of Last Meeting Prior to the full Committee meeting on June 15, 2021, the HRPLC Executive Committee members Theresa Bailey, Joyce Moore, Constance Brown and Vivian Summerour Daniel met with Mayor Still and City Manager Chuck Warbington to discuss the Committee meeting held on May 18, 2121 that was disrupted by an intruder via Zoom.  City Manager Warbington communicated the following: A. He apologized for the terrible disruption that ensued during the meeting held on 5/18/21 and committed that controls would be put in place to guard against this type of disruption happening again in the future. B. He advised that if Committee Members had not received their letters of recertification for the current year that it was an oversight; and, that the letters would be forthcoming. C. He informed that the HRLPC’s current role is focused on 3 major items: 1. Artifact(s) Collections 2. Story Telling/Historical Content - Interviews 3.
