Old Business:
Update on Gathering of Artifacts - Joyce Moore
Vice Chair Joyce Moore gave an account of artifacts that have been collected as of July
19, 2021, totaling 140 pieces. She also appealed to the committee to continue to collect
artifacts. In addition, she reported that Mr. Johnnie Smith and Dr. Theresa Livsey
Lemon had informed her that they had denoted artifacts of historical significance to
the Library and delivered them to Committee Member Ruby Neal. Vice Chair Moore
asked that Member Neal report those donations to her via the bi-monthly Hooper-
Renwick Library/Museum Donations Report. She also informed the committee that
Hooper-Renwick Minutes
City Manager, Chuck Warbington, has provided an area in City Hall where some
donated items can be temporarily stored, if needed, until permanent space has been
secured by the County.
Project Status Update - Cris A. Gray, Program Manager
In Mr. Gray’s absence, the project status update was brought to us by Cammie Fulmer,
Interpretative Resources Project Coordinator. There was also substantive input from
Tina Fleming, both from Gwinnett County Community Relations Department.
After Ms. Fulmer’s status update, some discussion ensued relating to the timeline of
the actual construction/completion of the entire project. Also, concerns were raised as
Committee Member Dr. Daniel questioned whether the interviews were going to be
documented and Committee Member Greg Lott wanted to make sure that the stories
from Hooper-Renwick that would be highlighted would be the stories of the Hooper-
Renwick shareholders as opposed to the stories chosen by Gwinnett County.
Updates – Chuck Warbington, City Manager – this item was not covered due to
Chuck’s being absent, attending to an unexpected family matter.
