Meeting Minutes City of League City Planning and Zoning Commission Regular Meeting, Monday, January 8, 2024 Council Chambers, 200 W. Walker Street, League City, TX 77573 1. Call to Order and Roll Call of Members Paul Maaz, Chair, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Present: Paul Maaz, Ruth Morrison, Frank Dominguez, Jacqueline Irwin, Matthew Hyde, Matthew Propst, Chris Dodson Absent: Pam Arnold City Staff: Kris Carpenter, Planning Director; Mark Linenschmidt, Planning Manager; Vince Hustead, Senior Planner; Matt Brown, Assistant City Engineer; Michelle Villarreal, Interim City Attorney 2. Approval of December 18, 2023, minutes Mr. Maaz asked if there were any corrections. He stated hearing none, the December 18, 2023, minutes are approved. 3. Citizen Communications None. 4. Public Hearing and Action Items A. Hold a public hearing and take action on VA-23-0005, Mac Haik Buffer Yard, a variance request for a maximum achievable buffer yard along the east property line on an 11.14-acre property, generally located along the east side of the Frontage Road of Interstate Highway 45 (Gulf Freeway) and south of League City Parkway with an address of 2112 South Gulf Freeway. Mr. Maaz opened the public hearing at 6:02 p.m. Mark Linenschmidt, Planning Manager, gave a presentation on behalf of the City of League City. No one spoke at the public hearing. Mr. Maaz closed the public hearing at 6:10 p.m. Dr. Propst made a motion to approve VA-23-0005, Mac Haik Buffer Yard, a variance request for a maximum achievable buffer yard along the east property line on an 11.14-acre property, per staff’s recommendations. Mr. Hyde seconded the motion. The motion passed by a vote of 7-0-0. 5. New Business A. Consider and take action on Preliminary Plats, Legacy, Section 1, PLAT-23-0063; and Legacy, Section 2, PLAT-23-0064, generally located along the east side of Legacy Drive and south of League City Parkway.  Mark Linenschmidt, Planning Manager, gave a presentation on behalf of the City of League City. Mr. Dodson made a motion to approve Preliminary Plats, Legacy, Section 1, PLAT-23-0063; and Legacy, Section 2, PLAT-23-0064, per staff’s recommendations. Ms. Morrison seconded the motion. The motion passed by a vote of 7-0-0. 6. Staff Comments Mark Linenschmidt reminded the Commission that the next P&Z meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 22, 2024. 7. Adjournment Mr. Dodson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Hyde seconded the motion.
