Ordinance Correction Public Hearing Nate Washer explained that the purpose of the meeting was to correct a grammar error in an existing ordinance. They read the current wording of the ordinance and proposed the change from a period to an "or" and making the "v" lowercase. The speaker emphasized that this was how the ordinance had been enforced previously, and they were simply correcting the grammar. Current wording: Obstruction of view. Any fence, grading, planting or construction that interferes with traffic. Visibility of those using the streets, sidewalks, driveways etc., is prohibited. Proposed correction: Obstruction of view. Several attendees raised questions and concerns about the proposed change: David Prince asked if the change would be retroactive and if people would be required to move existing fences. Nate Washer clarified that the change was only for clarity going forward. Amy Lowe questioned why this specific correction was being focused on and whether an attorney had reviewed the change. Chairman Washer explained that the planning commission periodically reviews ordinances, and that the town attorney would review any recommendations before final approval by the town council. Janet Carter, who was part of the original planning and zoning committee, confirmed that the ordinance had been enforced as intended since its creation, despite the grammatical error. Amelia Jeffs inquired about trees on city property that impeded traffic visibility. Nate Washer explained that as long as trees met certain height requirements, they were permitted. Connie Dubinsky expressed concern about potential future changes to roads near her property. Chairman Washer assured her that this specific ordinance change would not affect property or road plans. After addressing all questions and concerns, Speaker Chairman Washer read the proposed ordinance change one final time for clarity. Conner Lunt made a motion to close the public hearing. Jesse Carter seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Hearing adjourned at 7:13 PM Christine Carrigan, Clerk
