All written comments received by 4:00 p.m. will be provided to commission members in advance of the meeting.  City Hall Updates for Community Engagement Commission 5-12-2024 1. City Council approved CEC membership revision on April 16. • Ordinance is now in effect. Promotions for 2 vacancies have resumed. • Designations of current members’ position numbers will be addressed upon the addition of future member(s), in order to align with the specifications in Ordinance 277 2.C. regarding 2-year terms for those currently in odd-numbered positions and 3-year terms for those currently in even-numbered positions. 2. City Academy • 7 people are registered for this spring’s program. Public is invited to attend any session on Thursday nights at 6 p.m. • Remaining topics, dates, and locations are: Spokane Valley Fire Dept. (May 16), Public Works (May 23 at 375 N. Kramer Parkway), 911 (May 30 in Spokane), and Police Department (June 6). 3. City’s website • Redesign of city’s website went public on April 25. This included a new design for the library’s website and a new homepage appearance for Trailhead Golf. The changes were a free periodic upgrade that was offered by the city’s website service. 4. Summer Events Poster • New poster for events happening from mid-May through June is being released this week. 5. Pavillion Park Basketball/Skate Upgrades Dedication: Saturday, June 8, 11:00 a.m. • Dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the basketball court mural and skate park painting from last summer, plus the new basketball goals. 6. Farmers Market: • Plans call to include map of Spokane River Centennial Trailhead renovation project, map of 2024 capital improvement projects, and information on summer camps 7. Spokane River Centennial Trail construction. (Not a city project.) • State Parks and Recreation Commission plans to update its web page about this project every couple of weeks. Information will be relayed to the city’s Facebook site as updates become available. 8. City Podcast: • Most recently posted episodes are “The Unfunded Projects List” with Mark McAvoy and “City Hall Employees Who Are Star Wars Fans” with Tait Hunter and Jacob Nauretz. • Upcoming: Liberty Lake Farmers Market (recording on Tuesday), Friends of the Library Book Sale/Soiree (recording next week), Summer Movies in the Parks (recorded last week with Dan Dunne), and Summer Recreation Activities (to be recorded with new recreation coordinator Mickael Stevens).
