COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COMMISSION MEETING AGENDA WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12, 2024 – 6:00 P.M. 22710 E. COUNTRY VISTA DRIVE The purpose of the Community Engagement Commission is to serve in an advisory capacity to the mayor and City Council. The Commission’s role is to gather ideas, input, and feedback from community members, and to advise and guide city leadership. • Sign up to provide public comment at the meeting via calling in. • Submit written public comment prior to 4:00 p.m. on the date of the meeting. 1. The agenda item(s) you are speaking about If providing written comments, the comments received will be acknowledged during the public meeting, but not read. All written comments received by 4:00 p.m. will be provided to commission members in advance of the meeting. City Hall Updates for Community Engagement Commission 6-12-2024 1. City Council: • City Council is looking to schedule its public session about transparency for around Sept. 10. The thought is that there could be higher public attendance for this after school resumes and that this would allow more time to promote the event. 2. Zencity forum on 2025 budget: • Online public forum to obtain community input on the 2025 city budget opened on Zencity on May 31. Public will be able to write comments there until Oct. 14. Site also includes a tentative budget timeline. Forum is promoted at top of city’s homepage and is available at: www.libertylake-wa.civilspace.io/en/projects/2025-liberty-lake-budget-development . 3. City Academy • 3rd series concluded on June 6 and involved 7 people. CEC has had a member in all 3 sessions. 4. Liberty Lake Fest: July 4th Community Celebration • Signs are available at City Hall and Farmers Market to promote area’s July 3 and July 4 activities. Sign was also posted on city’s Facebook site an in June “Splash”. 5. Public arts: • Trailhead Golf will start an annually rotating display of Ridgeline student art (themed on nature) within the next few weeks outside the upcoming restaurant space. • The Park and Arts Commission is initiating a call to artists to create a “whimsical map” of Liberty Lake to place inside Trailhead Golf’s pro shop entrance. • Proposals are also being solicited for a “Liberty Lake Together” art piece for the area southeast of Kramer and East Country Vista. • For Pavillion Park, the Liberty Lake Historical Society is creating content about the history of the park for a display that is being planned for the northeast landscaped area. 6. Pavillion Park basketball/skate upgrades dedication: • About 50 people attended last Saturday’s dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new art projects and basketball backboards. A large portion of the attendees were there to watch the 3-on-3 basketball game between the LLPD and SVFD. 7. Farmers Market: • Magnetic 2’x3’ easel board has arrived and is available to use. 8. Spokane River Centennial Trail construction. (Not a city project.) • State Parks and Recreation Commission completed asphalting portion well ahead of schedule and reopened the trail on June 4. Previous plans were to have the trail closed throughout the summer. 9. City Podcast: • We are doing 3 episodes for June, in order to promote upcoming activities. Country Vista Drive, Liberty Lake, WA, and remotely via Zoom.
