THE CITY OF LIBERTY LAKE PARKS & ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES MARCH 7TH, 2018 - 4:00 PM CALL TO ORDER: Jennifer Camp, Maintenance & Operations Director for the City of Liberty Lake, called the meeting of the Parks and Arts Commission to order at 4:01 PM on March 7th, 2018. ROLL CALL: Commissioner David Himebaugh Commissioner Laina Schutz Commissioner Laura Frank Commissioner Bridgette Harris Commissioner Tom Chamberlain- absent Adjunct Bob Schneidmiller - excused Commissioner Jeanette Nall Maintenance & Operations Director Jennifer Camp Commissioner Tom Sahlberg Administrative Assistant Tait Hunter AGENDA REVIEW: Minutes from the February 21st Parks & Arts Commission meeting were approved at 4:02 PM. Jennifer Camp proposed holding off on making any decisions on the mission and vision statements until the next meeting, where it could be handled in a workshop setting. CITIZEN COMMENTS: At this time, there were no initial citizen comments made. ACTION ITEMS: The student commissioners- Caleb, Natalie and Kaitlyn- introduced themselves to the commission, briefly stating each of their personal histories related to living in Liberty Lake and their reasons for wanting to join the commission. Jennifer Camp then announced the plans to hopefully change the commission by-laws to allow all three students to be on the commission, instead of the previously proposed one. The final read for the change would take place at the April 3rd City Council meeting. Councilman Dan Dunne and Liz Macintosh presented to the commission a set of plans for an Arts Showcase to take place at the annual Spokane Symphony performance at Pavillion Park. The plans were examples of vendor set up. This event change could potentially create the need for support from the City. The commission briefly discussed and determined that the commission would like to get a few ideas determined for the mission and vision statements before the next meeting so more could be decided. The topic of insurance and risk associated with first come-first serve park users came up, to which Jennifer Camp stated the March 21st meeting would be a better place to finalize decisions on this matter. MEETING ADJOURNMENT: At 4:56 PM, the meeting concluded.
