THE CITY OF LIBERTY LAKE PARKS & ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES OCTOBER 17TH, 2018 - 4:00 PM CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Laina Schutz called the meeting of the Parks and Arts Commission to order at 4:00 PM on October 17th, 2018. ROLL CALL: Commissioner David Himebaugh Commissioner Laina Schutz Commissioner Laura Frank Commissioner Bridgette Harris Commissioner Tom Chamberlain Excused Adjunct Anita Eylar Commissioner Tom Sahlberg Adjunct Bob Schneidmiller Excused Commissioner Tom Stanley Maintenance & Operations Director Jennifer Camp Administrative Assistant Tait Hunter Student Commissioner Caleb Betts Unexcused Student Commissioner Katelyn Hansen Exucsed Student Commissioner Natalia Alva Unexcused APPROVALS: The minutes from the October 3rd meeting were approved. STAFF REPORT: Jennifer Camp announced interest from sponsors for more wrap projects. She continued on to update the commission on the progress of the potential goat sculptures. She finished by reminding the commission of the ordinance regarding unexcused meeting absences. The commission agreed upon the expectation that all current members attend future meetings, unless they have properly communicated absences in advance. NEW & UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Commissioner Sahlberg presented the donated Parks & Arts Commission concept brochure. Commissioner Schutz spoke on the sponsorship offers the commission has been receiving regarding wrap projects. The commission further discussed the application process, art approval, and handling specific requests from sponsors. Commissioner Frank went over the call to artists application form with the commission. Commissioner Schutz gave a brief update on the approval of the “Family Pieces” sculpture. The commission discussed potential locations for the sculpture’s placement. Commissioner Schutz mentioned Banner Bank’s interest in partnering with the commission for future projects, specificially the story walk, wraps, and a grand opening event at Orchard Park. PRESENTATIONS & ACTION ITEMS: Commissioner Sahlberg proposed scaling the Parks & Arts Commission meetings back to one per month, suggesting the meetings return to regular scheduling during busier times of the year. The proposal was agreed upon by all members of the commission. CITIZEN COMMENTS: No citizen comments were made at this meeting. MEETING ADJOURNMENT: The meeting concluded at 5:02 PM
