Minutes of Fire Commission Meeting May 10, 2010 Present were Carl Peeters, Dick Schevers, Pat Nikolay, Bill Verhagen, Scott Schommer, and Fire Chief Bob VandenHeuvel. Meeting was called to order at 5:46 p.m. Minutes from the February 8, 2010 meeting were reviewed and accepted as written. Election of Officers: Officers were elected unanimously – Carl Peeters, President; Scott Schommer, Vice President; Pat Nikolay, Secretary. Old Business: Update on grant: Fire Chief Bob VandenHeuvel reported that three grants were submitted in 2009. A partial grant for $32,000 was awarded to the Little Chute Fire Department, which was used to buy turn-out gear (pants and jackets). Two grants that were submitted were denied. Bob will resubmit the two grants for this year. Update on new hires: Due to the retirement of 4 (four) Fire Fighters last year and 3 (three) this year, 7 (seven) new hires were proposed. A motion to give approval for Fire Chief VandenHeuvel to qualify new hires pending certification was made by Dick Schevers and seconded by Bill Verstegen and was passed unanimously. The new hires are Andy Vanderloop, Matt Brockman, Tyler Nechodom, Ben DeBruin, Bryan Lamers, Pete Hietpas, and Eric Valentyn. New Business: There was no new business. Meeting was adjourned at 6:04 p.m. The next meeting will be September 13, 2010.
