City of Loganville Planning & Development Planning Commission Public Hearing Municipal Council Chambers 4385 Pecan Street Thursday, February 23, 2017 • 6:30 p.m. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. Invocation was given by Chairman, Janice Tribble followed by the pledge of allegiance. ATTENDANCE: Planning & Development Director, Tim Prater; Planning Commission Chairman Janice Tribble; Planning Commissioners, Bruce Granoff, Barbara Forrester, Richard Homick, Anne Coles and Lisa Newberry. Faye Lamb was absent. City Councilman Skip Baliles was in attendance. Deputy Director, Nina Ramsey recorded the minutes. BUSINESS: Case #V17-002 – Stone Mountain Atl Hwy, LLC filed an application requesting a variance on approximately 2.871+/- to reduce the side yard setback on property located at 4200 Atlanta Highway, Map/Parcel #5160-192, Gwinnett County, GA. The property owner is Stone Mountain Atl Hwy, LLC. The current zoning is CH. Paul Singh was present. Mr. Prater read into the minutes from the Official Zoning Ordinance for the City of Loganville: Section 119-34 – Major Variances (b): Restricted to hardship. Such relief may be granted only to the extent necessary to alleviate such unnecessary hardship and not as a convenience to the applicant nor to gain any advantage of interest over similarly zoned properties. And Section 119-34 (e) Limitations on approval. In no case shall a major variance be granted for any of the following: (1) A condition created by the applicant, including the result of an unwise investment decision or real estate transaction. A motion was made by Barbara Forrester and seconded Anne Cole to recommend the City Council deny the variance. Motion carried 5 – 0 therefore the recommendation is to deny the variance. ADJOURN - A motion was made by Barbara Forrester and seconded by Bruce Granoff to adjourn.
