BROADWAY, STE. 400 CONDEMNATION MINUTES LONG BEACH, CA 90802, 2:30 PM REGULAR MEETING - 2:30 P.M. CALL TO ORDER Vice Chairman Thompson opened the hearing at 2:38 p.m. in the Code Enforcement Conference Room and referred to Ordinance No. C-5232, asked for all the people in the audience who planned to give testimony, to stand, and they were sworn in by Myeesha Ayala. ROLL CALL Commissioners Diane L. Arnold, Jo Anne Fitzpatrick, Jim Thompson and Michael Present: Hamilton Commissioners Michael W. McCarthy Absent: SWEARING OF WITNESSES APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JANUARY 13, 2014 It was moved by Board Member Arnold and seconded by Board Member Hamilton to approve the minutes as submitted. The motion carried 3-0, Chairwoman Fitzpatrick and Board Member McCarthy were not present. BROADWAY, STE. 400 CONDEMNATION MINUTES LONG BEACH, CA 90802, 2:30 PM 1. CASE NO. C - 7843-01-14: 2090 KNOXVILLE AVENUE, MICHAEL AND LINDA FERRERA, Owners, Proj. No. CESB203417, Council Dist.4 Substandard Building Case Vice Chairman Thompson called for the owners or owners representative to appear before the Board and Michael Ferrera, 2090 Knoxville Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90815, Owner and Al Gapik, P.O. Box 908, Yorba Linda, CA 92885 appeared. Staff indicated that as per recent inspection, the property remains in violation. Chairwoman Fitzpatrick arrived at 2:53 p.m. It was moved by Board Member Arnold and seconded by Board Member Hamilton to continue the case to April 21, 2014 to allow the owners to seek funding for the repairs. Also, order the owners to maintain the structures in a safe, clean and secure manner until the demolitions or rehabilitations are complete. The motion carried unanimously. OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS NEW OR UNFINISHED BUSINESS DATE SET FOR NEXT HEARING: MARCH 17, 2014 ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Vice Chairman Thompson and seconded by Board Member Arnold that the hearing be adjourned at 3:08 p.m. The motion carried unanimously. No. CESB203417, Council Dist.4 Substandard Building Case Suggested Action: Conclude the Hearing, adopt the findings of the Building Official as the Board’s findings, determine that the Single Family Dwelling with Detached Garage located at 2090 Knoxville Avenue is substandard and a public nuisance, and order the owners to demolish or rehabilitate the structures as per Findings dated January 31, 2014 by March 10, 2014. Also, order the owners to maintain the structures in a safe, clean and secure manner until the demolitions or rehabilitations are complete.
