The meeting was called to order at 1:04 pm.

1. 18-046CA Recommendation to approve minutes from the November 8, 2018
meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities.
A motion was made by Vice Chair Gauthier, seconded by
Secretary Cedeno, to approve recommendation. The motion
carried by the following vote:

There was no report this month.
A motion was made by Vice Chair Gauthier, seconded by
Commissioner Bruns, to approve recommendation. The motion
carried by the following vote:

4. 18-049CA Recommendation to receive and file and/or approve any
recommendations from the 'Stamped Concrete/Decorative Surfaces' ad
hoc committee.
Commissioner Bruns reported that there were no recommendations to be made
this month.
A motion was made by Vice Chair Gauthier, seconded by
Commissioner Calsita, to approve recommendation. The
motion carried by the following vote:

6. 18-051CA Recommendation to request the Accessibility, Transportation and
Services standing committee review the requirement of evacuation
chairs in multi-story residential buildings and bring back, if applicable,
any suggested recommendations CACoD should consider forwarding
to the mayor, city council and/or city manager.
John Kendrick, co-founder of LB Environmental Alliance and LB Gray Panthers,
requested that CACoD consider all multi-story buildings if a recommendation is
made. Mr. Kendrick also expressed his concern regarding the lack of policy in
general related to evac chairs, especially in earthquake zones.
A motion was made by Vice Chair Gauthier, seconded by
Commissioner Calsita, to approve recommendation. The
motion carried by the following vote:

STAFF REPORT
Heather Blackmun, Citywide Accessibility Coordinator, reported that the last of the Disability,
Access and Functioning Needs (DAFN) Inclusionary Project working sessions wrapped up on
December 12th. The consultants will present their final recommendations in mid-January.
Ms. Blackmun also reported that the main library will be permanently closing its doors on Saturday,
January 19th in preparation for this summer's grand opening of the new, state-of-the-art library that
will be part of the new civic center.
Lastly, Ms. Blackmun made sure the commission was aware of the impending Blue Line closure
that will go into effect in January.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Chair McClain reminded the commission of the aquarium's Festival of Human Abilities that occurs
in January.

Commissioner Gauthier reminded the commission of the economic blueprint and airport
presentations that still need to be scheduled/rescheduled.
