OCEAN BOULEVARD, 1:00 DISABILITIES MINUTES PM Deaka McClain, Chair Connie Gutierrez, Member Alice Bruns, Vice Chair Chris Karadjov, Member Stephen Adams, Member Kim Vuong, Member Nubia Flores Cedeno, Member CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 1:05 pm. ROLL CALL All commissioners present. Commissioners Stephen Adams, Connie Gutierrez, Nubia Flores Cedeno, Chris Present: Karadjov, Kim Vuong, Alice Bruns and Deaka McClain FLAG SALUTE The flag salute was led by Commissioner Adams. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION Frances Emily Dawson Harris, CD1 resident, spoke about her concerns and recommendations regarding the use of leaf blowers in the City of Long Beach. PRESENTATION Dr. Alan Safer and Dr. Lesley Farmer, the CSULB team for disabilities data analytics, presented their research over the last decade that has focused on issues of disabilities in the CSU system. A motion was made by Commissioner Vuong, seconded by Commissioner Gutierrez, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Stephen Adams, Connie Gutierrez, Nubia Flores Cedeno, Chris Karadjov, Kim Vuong, Alice Bruns and Deaka McClain 19-049CA Recommendation to approve the minutes from the October 10, 2019 meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities. A motion was made by Commissioner Gutierrez, seconded by Commissioner Vuong, to approve recommendation. Assignments: Youth, Employment & Programs -Commissioner Alice Bruns -Commissioner Nubia Cedeno -Commissioner Connie Gutierrez Accessibility, Transportaton & Services -Commissioner Steve Adams -Commissioner Chris Karadjov -Commissioner Kim Vuong A motion was made by Commissioner Cedeno, seconded by Commissioner Gutierrez, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Stephen Adams, Connie Gutierrez, Nubia Flores Cedeno, Chris Karadjov, Kim Vuong, Alice Bruns and Deaka McClain 19-047CA Recommendation to cancel the December 2019 meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities. A motion was made by Commissioner Vuong, seconded by Commissioner Adams, to approve recommendation. A motion was made by Commissioner Adams, seconded by Commissioner Cedeno, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Stephen Adams, Connie Gutierrez, Nubia Flores Cedeno, Chris Karadjov, Kim Vuong, Alice Bruns and Deaka McClain 19-051CA Recommendation to receive and file an overview of the brand new Billie Jean King Library and the brand new Center for Adaptive Technology (CAT). A motion was made by Commissioner Gutierrez, seconded by Vice Chair Bruns, to approve recommendation.
