A motion was made by Commissioner Marino, seconded by Commissioner Mac Rae, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Camille Daniels, Elizabeth Lambe, Bruce Mac Rae, Theresa Marino, Jo Murray, Tom Mayes and Mark Turpin Abstain: 1 - Colin Kelly Absent: 1 - Nathaniel Brown NEW BUSINESS 2. 21-011MA Recommendation to receive and file an update on the status of Beach Concessions. Joshua Hickman presented a Beach Concessions update. Todd Leland gave a presentation on the Boat Owner Survey. Page 4 of 7 CITY OF LONG BEACH THURSDAY, MAY 13, 2021 MARINE ADVISORY TELECONFERENCE, 2:30 PM COMMISSION MINUTES LBPD - Marine Patrol Unit James Smigla, Sergeant, LBPD/Marine Patrol reviewed the following: ● Vehicle disturbances on Boathouse Lane. A trailer with a camera has been positioned on Boathouse Lane. ● Pierpoint Landing. ● Group disturbances at Hornblower facility. LBFD - Marine Safety/Lifeguards Omar Naranjo, Safety Captain, LBFD/Lifeguards reviewed the following: ● Junior Lifeguard program. ● Wibit, inflatable water playground, to be placed back in the bay this summer. ● Lifeguard training. ● 50% increase in safety activity. ● Department supported personnel to assist with vaccinations and mobile vaccinations. ● Impound review. Marine Maintenance Eric Woodson, Superintendent, Marine Maintenance, reviewed the following: ● Installation of new metal doors at DTM. ● Roof replacement at station 31 is completed. ● Pony gates installation. ● Bright work review (painting of curbs, new signage etc.) ● Installation of Teflon strips on the gangways. ● Two electricians have been hired. ● Two additional custodians will begin work next month. ● Replacement to multi-key (restrooms/gangways) at DTM. ● Graffiti on the bluff and pier. An email blast went out to all boat owners. Commissioner Mac Rae spoke. Vice Chairman Mayes spoke. A motion was made by Commissioner Marino, seconded by Commissioner Lambe, to receive and file. MARINE & BEACH MAINTENANCE / OPERATIONS COMMITTEE Jo Murray - Chair Commissioner Murray mentioned all items were reviewed at today’s meeting. PUBLIC COMMENT Brian Maginnis thanked Sergeant Smigla and his staff for positioning the trailer with/camera on Boathouse Lane.
