A motion was made by Commissioner Murray, seconded by Commissioner Daniels, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 8 - Nathaniel Brown, Camille Daniels, Colin Kelly, Elizabeth Lambe, Bruce Mac Rae, Theresa Marino, Jo Murray and Mark Turpin Abstain: 1 - Tom Mayes NEW BUSINESS 2. 21-026MA Recommendation to endorse the submission to approve a fee waiver for the Seal Beach Yacht Club (SLBYC), in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00, for use of dock space in Alamitos Bay Marina for visiting/participating vessels during the 2021 Marina Del Rey “Outlaw” Regatta on September 4, 2021. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 9 - Nathaniel Brown, Camille Daniels, Colin Kelly, Elizabeth Lambe, Bruce Mac Rae, Theresa Marino, Jo Murray, Tom Mayes and Mark Turpin 3. 21-027MA Recommendation to endorse the submission to approve a fee waiver for the Long Beach Yacht Club (LBYC), in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00, for use of dock space in Alamitos Bay Marina for visiting/participating vessels during the 2021 Ficker and Congressional Cups for the period of September 9 - September 20, 2021 and the United States Match Race Championships for the period of September 30 - October 3, 2021. A motion was made by Vice Chair Mayes, seconded by Commissioner Murray, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 9 - Nathaniel Brown, Camille Daniels, Colin Kelly, Elizabeth Lambe, Bruce Mac Rae, Theresa Marino, Jo Murray, Tom Mayes and Mark Turpin 5. 21-024MA Recommendation to receive and file an update from the Ad Hoc Committee to study the Long Beach Safe Boating and Fair Access Alliance and the impact on the boating community. Commissioner Mac Rae, Ad Hoc Committee Chair, spoke on the meetings the committee attended. At this time, the City will not be moving forward with the Army Corps of Engineer’s Alamitos Bay Restoration Plan. A discussion ensued. Vice Chairman Mayes spoke. Commissioner Mac Rae spoke. Marine Maintenance Eric Woodson, Superintendent, Marine Maintenance, reviewed the following: ● Replacement of flags at Belmont Pier. ● Grand Prix preparation. ● Re Striping of Mole Road. Commissioner Daniels spoke. Beach Maintenance Cory Forrester, Superintendent, Beach Maintenance, reviewed the following: ● August 20th - High tide review. ● Hurricane off Baja. ● Pierpoint Landing restroom remodel. ADA accessible. ● Tree trimming. Commissioner Marino spoke. Elvira Hallinan spoke. Commissioner Marino spoke. Marine Operations Todd Leland, Superintendent, Marine Operations provided the following update: ● Long Beach Marinas - 92% occupancy. ● Grand Prix prep starting in the downtown area. ● Concessions update - Saltwater Deck will open by month end.
