Acting Director Scott took roll call and confirmed a quorum. President Antonette welcomed newly appointed Commissioner Stella Ursua. Commissioner Ursua stated she looks forward to serving. STUDEBAKER ROAD, 9:00 AM President Antonette spoke. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. 15-049PR Recommendation to approve the Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting minutes of July 16, 2015. A motion was made by Vice President Goldberg, seconded by Commissioner Heggeness, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Stella Ursua, Julie Heggeness, Stacey Morrison, Ron Sievers, David Zanatta, Benjamin Alan Goldberg and Ron Antonette JULY 2015 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH The July recipient was unable to attend the August 20, 2015 meeting and will be present at the September 17, 2015 meeting. COMMISSION ACTION ITEMS 2. 15-050PR Authorize the Director, or his or her management designee, to execute the Personal Services and Instruction Agreements and amend Attanchment "A" of the agreements as needed. Gladys Kaiser provided the staff report. A motion was made by Vice President Goldberg, seconded by Commissioner Heggeness, to approve recommendation. STUDEBAKER ROAD, 9:00 AM Gladys Kaiser spoke and provided an update on 100 Days of Summer and end of summer programming. Valerie Davis asked the Commission if it was acceptable to them to cease mailing agenda packets each month - email the Commission link to the agenda, and have hard copy packets available at each Commission meeting for the Commissioners. The Commissioners agreed to this shift in practice. Meredith Reynolds advised there will be a 2nd Community workshop for the Houghton Park Master Plan on Saturday, August 29, 2015. * Commissioner Zanatta spoke. * Acting Director Scott spoke. * Meredith Reynolds spoke. Hurley Owens stated he's looking forward to the upcoming rainy season. * Commissioner Goldberg spoke. * Acting Director Scott spoke. * Commissioner Sievers spoke. A discussion ensued. Acting Director Scott spoke and advised a joint presentation with the Water Department on Water will be made to Council on September 1, 2015. Commissioner Zanatta welcomed Commissioner Ursua. Commissioner Ursua thanked the Commissioners and Staff for the warm welcome to the Parks & Recreation Commission. Commissioner Morrisson is concerned about the sycamore trees in the medians asked if medians can be watered. * Acting Director Scott spoke. * Commissioner Morrisson spoke. Commissioner Heggeness welcomed Commissioner Ursua. Commissioner Sievers thanked staff for additional port-a-jons at Recreation Park. Commissioner Goldberg stated we all should be aware of the upcoming rainy season and act accordingly regarding flood insurance policies.
