Interim Director Scott took roll call and confirmed a quorum. ROLL CALL Commissioners Stella Ursua, Julie Heggeness, Ron Sievers, David Zanatta, Present: Benjamin Alan Goldberg and Ron Antonette Commissioners Margo Morales Absent: A motion was made by Commissioner Heggeness and seconded by Vice President Goldberg to excuse Commissioner Morales from the March 17, 2016 Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting. The agenda was discussed. FINANCE & APPEALS COMMITTEE Vice President Goldberg provided the update. Fee waivers were discussed. MAINTENANCE & INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE President Antonette stated the Committee did not meet due to schedules surrounding the CPRS Conference. MARKETING & RECREATION COMMITTEE Commissioner Zanatta provided the update. The committee met and discussed supplying a one-page sheet surrounding ground breakings and events, giving the Commission more information. PARKS USAGE & REGULATIONS COMMITTEE Commissioner Ursua stated the Committee did not meet. 1. Park Ranger Report 2. STUDEBAKER ROAD, 9:00 AM JOINT USE COMMITTEE Commissioner Sievers stated the Committee would meet directly after the Commission meeting. He has distributed some information regarding Joint Use and welcomes ideas whether on the Committee or not. OLD BUSINESS - none NEW BUSINESS - none PUBLIC COMMENT: IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO ADJOURNMENT Opportunity is given to those members of the public who would like to address the Parks and Recreation Commission on non-agenda items. Each speaker is limited to three minutes unless extended by the Parks and Recreation Commission. Sr. Advisory Commissioner Don Donauer spoke regarding seniors in the City. He invited the Commissioners to attend a Sr. Citizen's Advisory Commission meeting and asked that the Commission be recognized in the Director's "We Create Community" report. Sr. Advisory Commissioner Samuel Lor spoke regarding the upcoming Cambodian New Year events. Vice President Goldberg spoke. President Antonette spoke. Joni King - Alamitos Heights resident, spoke regarding the Joint Use Sub-Committee and possible discussion about the number of basketball courts at Rogers Middle School. Ann Cantrell spoke regarding filming in the parks and artificial turf. Commissioner Sievers spoke. Vice President Goldberg spoke. STUDEBAKER ROAD, 9:00 AM STAFF COMMENTS: Gladys Kaiser thanked the Sr. Advisory Commission and discussed upcoming Spring Break activities. Valerie Davis reminded Commissioners of the requirement to file the FORM 700 prior to the April 1, 2016 deadline. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: Commissioner Sievers thanked Interim Director Scott for his service during the past nine months. Commissioner Ursua thanked Interim Director Scott and Amy Manning for their hard work during the past months and reported on the recent Green Event. Commissioner Zanatta thanked Interim Director Scott and Amy Manning for their hard work and thanked staff for their work on the CPRS Conference. Vice President Goldberg thanked Interim Director Scott.
