SECOND READING OF ORDINANCE 2013-03 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MADEIRA BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING THE MlllAGE RATE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2014; PROVIDING AND ANNOUNCING THE NAME OF THE TAXING AUlHORITY: THE ROLLED-BACK RATE; THE PERCENTAGE INCREASE OVER THE ROLLED BACK RATE; AND THE FINAL ADOPTED MIUAGE RATE; BY PROVIDING FOR READING IN ITS ENTIRETY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Dick Lewis 561 Cryslal Drive: He wants ID verify 1he donations status of the budget The citizens wanted ID reflect that the donations Ille City has made for many yen - Seniors Club, SPCA, and Neghbolly Senior Services - were removed and he completely agrees with that He overheard lhal the dondon to 1he Seniors Club was Rllnalated without any public notice of that. Mr. Lewis wasn't happy that there was no public notice about the inclusion of this in the pubic comment section. Mr. Lewis: He objects that lhe Seni011 Club even deserves a donation as It Isn't ewn a charitable organization and the fact that the City Administration can choose where the budgeted dollars go towards. "We are still spending $91,000.00 on an atfdlllonaf Dapuiy and their main !ask is Code Enforoemenr. I previously objec1ed to this and he doesn't think ihat this deputy is worth $91,000.00. He thinks that 1here isn't cm increased anount In the code enforcement output and 2-3 people could be hired for that price and get betler 1'88Ults. He 18 appraclalfve flat the John's Pass Village Fund Is being discontinued because it didni meet the alteria of a, enterprise fund. Mayer Palladeno: The donation was Included In the tentative budget. on page 30, that Is postad on Iha City Website. FD ~ that the $1,700 was offset by a $1,700 raduclion elsewhere.
