RESOLUTION 2014-51 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MADEIRA BEACH ESTABLISHING THE CITY OF MADEIRA BEACH AS THE FIRST OFFICIAL BITCOIN CITY IN THE WORLD A motion to approve Resolutlon 2014-51 was made by Commissioner Poe and seconded by Commissioner Shontz. Commissioner Lister: Mentioned that he heard a lot of positive feedback from business owners. He thinks that the informational town meeting last week really helped explain the concept and ease the minds of both the business owners in the City and himself. Mayor Palladeno: Tourism has really taken off in the area, our numbers are up, and this type of forward thinking and moving will only help spread the word about Madeira Beach. Sports tourism in Pinellas County is phenomenal and we are attracting new visitors and now getting repeat visitors. CM: Doug Andrews, Dave Marsicano, and others have really helped put this together. We want the Bitcoin Bowl and the Beach Bash to come and stay here. This helps solidify the relationship and gets news out from all kinds of outlets about this move. There is no risk for the business owners who accept Bitcoin as a means of currency. The marketing aspect of this move is priceless. REPORTS/CORRESPONDENCE • CITY COMMISSION - NONE • CITY ATTORNEY - NONE • CITY MANAGER CM: His evaluation is up - staff has provided the performance evaluation for the City Manager position this year. If he wants to schedule a one-on-one meeting, they can do that. The Original Pizza building has been demolished-they are way ahead of schedule on that project. We will make sure we get some pictures. He wanted the Board to be aware that there has been some relocation of a few offices due to construction. The conference room has been sealed off and other offices may be relocated in the future as needs arise. He just wanted the Board to understand that staff is working to make the best use of the limited space and constraints in the current building layout. • CITYCLERK CC: There is a new section called "Submit a Photo" where citizens are able to submit their own photos and each month a new winner would be picked. 11/25/2014 Special Meeting K.
