City of Madelia City Council Meeting Monday, November 18, 2016 A regular meeting of the Madelia City Council was held on November 18, 2016 at 7:00 pm. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike Grote. Those present for the meeting were; Andy Gappa; Dave Whitney and Larry Schickling. Absent from the meeting was John Nelson. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Larry Schickling to approve the agenda with three additional agenda items, Certifying the General Election, Ambulance By-Laws, Ambulance Officer, Wage., Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa and Dave Whitney and Larry Schickling. Voting against none, motion carried with John Nelson absent. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the minutes of the October 24, 2016 meetings. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, Dave Whitney and Larry Schickling. Voting against none, motion carried with John Nelson absent. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the bills as listed. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa and Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion carried with John Nelson absent. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve Certifying the 2016 General Election: City of Madelia – Council Member Larry Schickling – 636 Votes Andy Gappa – 720 Votes Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion carried with John Nelson absent. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Dave Whitney to approve a Down Payment Assistance loan to Tanner Mueller in the amount of $5,000.00 for the purchase of the home located at 14 Cox Avenue NW. The interest rate will be 4% and the term of the loan will be for a period of ten years. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, Dave Whitney and Larry Schickling. Voting against none, motion carried with John Nelson absent. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve appointing four new members to the Madelia Fire Department; Travis Bottelson, Mark Slater, Nathan Boomgarden and Nick Hruby. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion carried with John Nelson absent. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Larry Schickling to approve an increase in wages for the Officers of the Madelia Fire Department. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, Larry Schickling and Andy Gappa. Voting against none, motion carried, with John Nelson absent. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Dave Whitney to approve changes to the Madelia Ambulance Service By-Laws. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, Larry Schickling and Andy Gappa. Voting against none, motion carried, with John Nelson absent. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Larry Schickling to approve an increase in wages for the Officers of the Madelia Ambulance Service. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, Larry Schickling and Andy Gappa. Voting against none, motion carried, with John Nelson absent. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the 2017 Liquor and Business Licenses. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, Larry Schickling and Andy Gappa. Voting against none, motion carried, with John Nelson absent.
