City Council

Special City Council Meeting Monday, May 4, 2020 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike Grote via phone conference. Those in attendance were; Mike Grote, Cody Eager, Andy Gappa, Larry Schickling and David Whitney. Roll call being taken: Mike Grote David Whitney Larry Schickling Cody Eager Andy Gappa Chris Fischer Chris Paul Chief Prescher Heather Thomas – Times Messager A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve agenda. Voting in favor of said motion by roll call; Mike Grote-Yes, Larry Schickling-Yes, Cody Eager-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes and Dave Whitney-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve closing the swimming pool for the 2020 Season. After discussion the Council felt the revenue that it will be losing due to sanitizing and only allowing a certain number of people in to use the pool it would be best to concentrate on the major repairs that are needed to the pool. Plans and specifications are being complete to sandblast and paint the pool this summer. The staff and Council will look at more repairs that need to be completed. The City Staff and Times Messager will work together to do a progress report of the repairs Voting in favor of said motion by roll call; Mike Grote-Yes, Larry Schickling-Yes, Cody Eager-No, Andy Gappa-Yes and Dave Whitney-Yes. Motion was approved with 4-1 vote. Park and Rec was discussed and decisions on this will be made by Governor Walz’s guidelines as they become available. Campground will remain closed until May 18th. Seasonal camping will be looked into. Golf course is open to members only. Clubhouse is closed. Cart sheds are open to only individuals that have paid for storage. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Cody Eager to approve advertising for the following RFP: - Stone Shelter roof repairs Voting in favor of said motion by roll call; Mike Grote-Yes, Larry Schickling-Yes, Cody Eager-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes and Dave Whitney-Yes. Motion was approved. Rob Prescher gave an update on the Class of 2020 parade. Will get more details for next meeting. With no further business before the Council, A Motion was made by Cody Eager and seconded by Dave Whitney to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor of said motion by roll call; Mike Grote-Yes, Larry Schickling-Yes, Cody Eager-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes and Dave Whitney-Yes. Motion was approved.
