Aye: All Nay: None APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Approval of Minutes - March 28th ,2023 Motion by Theodoroff second by Nagle Approve the Minutes as amended. Amendments: • Fix Spelling Error for Laurie Gerald’s name on March 28th meeting. • Delete “Will wait until the HREC meeting until any decision is made”. • Re word as “Community Advisory Board” not Marijuana Board. Matching 5,000 given to Juneteenth. Not promised, verbally not promised. • Geralds Made motion to excuse Bliss not Dombrowski. Aye: All Nay: None. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC No Public Present REPORTS 2. Treasurer Report - No New Updates 3. Social Media Report – Social Activity: 154 saw post ,21 engaged ,1 new page like, 2 new followers. HREC posted Art and Pride Event. Which is the main reason for numbers. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 4. Trail Tunes (Bliss, Dombrowski, Palazzolo,Theodoroff) Councilman Bliss said that there are no new updates. The subcommittee was not able to meet together since last meeting. They will launch advertising around June. Invitations will go out once the page is live. June or July will start reaching out to Bands. September 9,2023 is when Trail Tunes is Scheduled. 5. Pumpkin Walk (Geralds, McBride, Theodoroff) Geralds have updates October 21st is the proposed date Saturday night. Tentative. 6. Statewide Independent Living Council proposal for inclusive art in Madison Heights (Rohrbach, Mcbride, Dombrowski, Geralds, Nagle) McBride gave updates about the event; other organizations are also involved in this project so there are a lot of logistics in planning. McBride Announced that things are in motion. Two big events, large scare mural confirmed July 22nd for the event their pavilion is rented. It will be from 1:00-5:00 PM at Civic Center Park. Councilman Bliss suggested to book Jaycee building for event. Adam will reserve the Jaycee Building for the organization. Deadline May 31st as of May 16th 8 submission have been received. McBride asked if the Arts Board can share the event on the Facebook page. Everyone is encouraged to share on social media to spread the word. Madison Heights will be the only location the state holding this even as Traverse City pulled out from hosting. 7. Arts and Pride (Nagle, Geralds, Theodoroff, McBride) All Set for June 4th 2:00 pm- 6:00 pm 9 volunteers and 4 more who are working the event. Money from HREC and working on sponsors, friends of MH library on Board as well, there will be Face Painting, Button Maker, and are getting supplies to do a rehearsal of the tie die  station. Is what the Arts Board will contribute to the event. The DJ from last year is not available. Councilman Bliss suggested that some trail tunes bands might be interested in working the event. Adam will Reserve the Jaycee Building for the Arts and Pride Event. Motion by Geralds Second by Theodoroff to spend up to 200 plus any donation along with 300 for seed money against the donations. “On a draw”. Aye: All Nay: None 8. Grant Opportunities A. Play Everywhere KaBoom Grant! - Finish painting the sidewalk - Spring 2023 (Owczarzak) On Hold until construction project is finished B. Progress Forward - Community Advisory Board (CAB) $5,000 January 20,2022 - Award Notice: Trail Tunes $2,500/Gala $1500 went to the Mural will have to Reapply. (Pumpkin Walk denied as violation of their governing rules prohibit marketing to children. - New Proposals (Geralds, Bliss, Rohrbach) Note we are asking for 5,000 for trail tunes, Follow Up with Melissa to see if it is coming. Check for Application. (Re apply for Gala 1500) Two applications for CAB C. Band Stand Grant, MEDC Crowd Funding Campaign (Dombrowski, Palazzolo, Theodoroff, Rohrbach, Bliss,) Chair Dombrowski gave an update: The Subcommittee needs to meet need to coordinate trip with DPS Staff to walk the grounds to view the bandstands to see where the best location will be for this bandstand. Will walk to get the plan and then put together for funding. Dombrowski recommended that we get the Parks and Rec Board involved in this. Councilman Bliss suggests that if inviting the Parks and Rec Board you will have to be cognizant not to have quorum. Nagle said we will have to take acoustics and seating into account when planning where to put them. We will have to ask DPS if City Bus is available to take tours at Farmington and Rochester. 9. Gala (Geralds, Bliss, Dombrowski, Palazzolo, Nagle) - Moved to Fall 2023 Nagle sent link to events planning handbook. Subcommittee will discuss logistics of the event. The subcommittee will meet May 30th @ 7:30 virtually.  10. Civic Center Complex Renovation - Art Installation Project (Bliss, McBride, Nagle, Basler, Covert) Staff Liaison Owczarzak said that not much progress has been made, will continue to reach out to Artists, The subcommittee will decide where the art will go in city hall. 11. Bike Rodeo (Dombroski, Covert, Nagle) Cover Gave an update about this event, 1,000 Stickers were are donated. Arts Board will have a tent where children can decorate helmets. The Board will share on Arts Board Page. NEW BUSINESS Native Plant Sale: On May 28th Last year arts board made appearance with clay pots for children to paint. Would like to do that again. Out of pots so will need can get 23-inch clay pots for 25.99. Nagle requested up to 30 to purchase pots. Motion by Nagle Second by Gerald’s to spend up to $30.00 to purchase pots to paint. Aye: All Nay: None AI Generated Art: Nagle proposed that the Arts Board to out a statement saying that “any and all AI Generated is not Welcome in any of out Art World. Or in any Arts Board Contest. All Art submitted must be original and not AI Generated. Potentially have the City Adopted an ordinance. Other Board Member gave various viewpoints on the topic. Gerald’s recommend that language to be forwarded to board for review. Before any vote is made. Will put this on the agenda for the next meeting.
