PROCEEDINGS OF THE MANISTEE CITY COUNCIL – SEPTEMBER 19, 2024 A special meeting of the Manistee City Council was called to order by her honor, Mayor Jermaine Sullivan on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 70 Maple Street, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. PRESENT: David Bachman, Wesley Smith, Cindy Lundberg, Jermaine Sullivan, Seth Pratt, James Grabowski, and Erin Martin Pontiac ABSENT: None ALSO PRESENT: City Manager – Bill Gambill and Deputy Clerk – Lora Laurain COMMENTS ON AGENDA RELATED ITEMS None INTERVIEWS FOR CONTRACTED LEGAL SERVICES Interviews conducted: 6:00 p.m. – Timothy Figura and Richard Wilson – Mika Meyers 6:45 p.m. – Blake Conklin and Jeff Sluggett – Bloom Sluggett, PC 7:30 p.m. – Matthew Cross – Cummings, McClorey, Davis, and Acho, PLC CONSIDERATION OF AUTHORIZING STAFF TO NEGOTIATE A CONTRACT WITH THE SUCCESSFUL CITY ATTORNEY CANDIDATE’S FIRM Following interviews Councilmembers engaged in public discussion with the goal of selecting one of the candidates and requesting Staff to begin negotiating a contract with the successful candidate’s firm. MOTION by Smith, second by Martin Pontiac to direct Staff to negotiate a contract with Bloom Sluggett, PC. With a roll call vote this motion passed unanimously.
